Need help choosing a gun
Hello everyone,
I have played quite a bit of paintball and am now looking at getting my own gun. The ones at the range never work when you want them to
Now my query is with regards to Spyders....
Are they designed and aimed at beginers?
The gun I am looking at going for is the Spyder Rodeo, good price and I have read quite a few good reviews on the gun, but none of them realy answered my question.
Is this a beginers gun or not?
What is this like compaired to an older WGP, not sure of which one exactly.
Any asistance would be greatly apriciated,
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Hobo

A Spyder Rodeo is a good gun. But if you have a higher budget get an Imagine. They both are very good guns. They are easly upgradable and have low maintence. You did make a good choice of selecting to get a gun from Kingman U.S.A. Now their cheaper guns are aimed at beginners but you can upgrade them to a good and well performance lvl. If you do get a Spyder then make sure you upgrade the stock barrel and bolt.
Here's a review I did on the Imagine:

Thanks Ahmadi6490,
A few conserns about the Imagine is as you mentioned, no drop-forward, which I will have to buy. The Rodeo comes with one.
Its electric, dunno about that. Is it wise for some one to get electric as a first gun? I always though for a fist gun get something that will teach you the basics and then go for the best in your budget.
Lastly, in your review you mentioned in your review that you accedently fire shots some times coz of how light the trigger is. Is there a way to fix that?
I want a light trigger but not one that light...
Thanks again

Well, im no expert on spyders, but on my tippmann theres a trigger spring inside the gun, the stock trigger spring is pretty tough, and i replaced it with a regular clicky pen spring to make the trigger pull lighter, it feels much nicer now, so i think that a spyder probably has a trigger spring inside the gun so maybe you could replace that spring with a more tougher spring, but light trigger pull is also nice untill your firing accidently without touching the trigger. once saw a guy who would hit the back of his N2 tank and that would fire the gun becuase it moved the trigger. Choosing a first gun also goes by what type of games your going to be playing, such as if your goign to be playing a lot of woodsball, you might want to start out with a tippmann, due to those are very durable guns that you can like drop off a tree and they wont break or anything, but if your going to be playing a lot of speedball, then yeah go with the spyder, makes a good starting gun.

I would recomend you get an Imagine if its in your budget its not much more complicated at all, same internals just that the trigger frame has electronics inside that trip the sear on the touch of a button instead of you doing it by actually pulling the trigger. Resulting in a much higher rate of fire up to 14 bps instead of the average 5-6 with a mechanical spyder. If you do go for a mechanical spyder keep in mind they all are the very same +/- an expansion chamber and the look. So if yoour are going mechanical I would recomend the TL-X or the Xtra.

I would recommend getting the Imagine. Spyders are very simple guns to use/ maintain. The electronic trigger is a sweet thing for faster shooters. And you can change trigger pull from light/ heavy. I wouldnt worry about the trigger going off that easily, mine never did even when I slid into bunkers hard. But just in case, dont point the gun at yourself.

You dont "have" to buy a drop. Imagine is what I would/did get. It is fast, pretty reliable, and cheap. Only thing is you "want" to buy a new barrel atleast to make it more accurate.

Other options?
Thanks for all your reply's.
I have been looking at a few review sites and have come accross the
Dragun TES.
Standard (no moding the thing) 20bps!!! With mods 30bps.
Said to be very accurate too.
Please dont flame the gun if you havent heard of it or even used it.
If you have used it please falme away if need be.
Thanks again
