to all gunless newbs

now your looking into paintball, you see these guns shooting 20+ paintballs per second. now its fun in all but look into another style of paintballing, pump. i play it, its way most cost effective for ballin. a bag ( 500 balls) will last me 2 long day of paintballing with some left over. a good pump will run you about 200-250. i have price out whole packages for friends with a mask, gun, and accesories that you need it comes out to about 300 + or - like 20 bucks. shure this is almost twice the price of most spyder kits or used autocockers. though playing pump will build your skills much faster. so before you throw down cash on a fast electronic gun look into the world of playing pump first. for more info pm me or check out the pump forum.

nah pumps arent that expensive. A good pump will cost 190 with 10 ball cartridges and 12 grams. Then a mask can be anywhere from 20-100

Pump is definately a fun way to play. When beginning you might be better off playing against likeminded friends to help build up your confidence and learn how to play before hitting the speedball courses. I have many more memorible one shot kills while playing pump then I can remember from my days of playing semi. Remember, it'll be tough at first and you might go through the day without more then a single elimination but just try to learn from your mistakes and most importantly stay calm. It makes it all worthwhile when you pop someone who is shooting at you with a $1200 marker. Check out my pump player tips on the pump forum.

well it teaches you patience, to line up your shots, and not to just spray fire everywhere

Look at it this way, if you played basketball for practice they made you use a medicine ball to shoot hoops. Once you got your hands on a regular basketball it felt like you could score from acroos the feild. Just like with playing pump, it teaches you to build up the basics of the game. Put yourself at a dis-advantage in any activity and tell me you will not work harder and become better.

It's not the best way to start out, but I'll give you that it teaches you the basic skills of paintball. It not only forces you to think before each shot, but with the limited amount of paint, you must choose each shot carefully, instead of just laying lines of paint across the field.

Stock class is definitely the way to go for the person with limited funds. It costs less, and is just as, if not more fun than any other style of paintball, out there.
