The right tactics, do they work?

Ok here's the deal,
My 4 friends and I have brand new gear, me Victor II, ma friends A-5's and the whole nine yard. We're still noobs (2nd time around). I'm thinking here, playing on PB field woodsball, would military tactics similar to fire team work in pb?
Like have 2 guys gives suppressing fire then the other guys move while under fire cover?

Sure -- that works, as does camping, the run through, blind firing, and sniping... That is the great thing about paintball that it is so adaptable. The key is communication with your team - telling a guy to 'put fire on that bunker so I can move up' is just fine. Just don't get too hung up on bounding overwatch or anything of the true style of miltacs -- you are out there to have fun, not to be general patton.

Well that's the fun part of it, be a army/ranger/swat team/Navy Seals wanabes.
I'm was just wondering if these real life tactics can be applied with some moderations to PB.

for the most part suppresion fire works well in paintball but you must take into account that paintballs have much less range and that more experienced players will pop up and snap-shoot. But, for playing recball cover fire works very well since newbies are too afriad to take any shots when ttheir intimidated by some one shooting at them.

"fire and maneuver" is certaintly the most common paintball tactic, and is used by everyone.

In order for it to be effective, you need good communication, and great teamwork. KNOW EXACTLY where the other team is, and KNOW who is shooting at who to be most effective when using cover fire.
MAKE SURE the runners KNOW AHEAD OF TIME exactly where they are running, and who they can expect will be firing at them...
DO NOT just run blindly. Certain positions are better then others because they might be able to control larger parts of the field. TRY TO FIND out about these locations ahead of time.

The tactic, while popular, also has issues. If the other team expects it, they will know that your players will be in the open whenever they hear cover fire, and will counter it with heavy supressive shooting.
This is why this tactic has evolved into lane shooting, and sweetpotting as it adapted itself to paintball

hey djsway, im sure u already know by above posts that it works and such.

if u wanna get better, u could set up a speedball type field or a small woodsball field, and play on that a few times. I know when i frist started, i wasnt 'scared' to fire, but it didnt sink in my head, that if i dont shoot people, that i was going to be shot.. so by playing a faster paced game, ull learn that a lot faster than u would 'camping' or whatever. just a peace of advice.. speedball and woodsball are both cool for whatever ur into.
