Anti-siphon installation for newbs?
How many of you have installed an anti-siphon filter by yourselves? And was it easy for you to do by yourself or did your tank blow up on you! Well just checking...I just got some and it came with instructions but before I install it, want to see if any of you have had any experience with it. I'm pretty good with directions and can generally install things if the directions are clear.

IF the tank blew up on anyone they wouldnt be around totell you. Most places will install it for free if you buy it there. Don't do it by yourself.

What he said was true. I installed my own in a bottle, and I lived to tell of it. It is something that you CAN do, if you so choose. I am not sure that you SHOULD do it. There is a thread that already deals with that very same issue. You can find it here. Best of luck.

ive done it 3 times....its pretty easy (for me). i agree with ^^^^, its not for everyone to try. if you do decide to do it, BE EXTRA VERY CAREFUL, its your life and anyone standing nearby + the first guy to fill the tank, assuming you are sucessful in not hurting anyone when installing it. one other thing.....DO NOT SUBSTITUTE PARTS/THREADLOCK. and definately do not use a damaged part, even if it is brand new.

Just because I know how to do abdominal resection does not mean I SHOULD do it. Even many shops these days are refusing to install AS tubes as the liabilty risks are very high. I would encourage you to have a certified airsmith do the work, and preferably one that who has done a ton of them.
Just remember too - once you install an AS tube, that tanks is pretty much dedicated to one marker. No two tanks end up in the exact same place when screwed into the asa of the marker -- so if it works in one, it may be pulling pure liquid into the marker on the other.
Jsut something to think about.

^Exactly, many people will buy a AS tank off some guy only to find out that it has to be reset to work in their gun. If you go used, try to get the ASA the gun was set up for.

HP Lovecraft actually stated that some people used to like to run their guns on liquid CO2, its the poor man's HPA if you're using a blowback:

Siphon tubes all the way!

That may be true, but what I believe is that an improperly installed AS tank valve will not force ONLY liquid c02 into the gun. The result could be the gun pulling both liquid and gas into the marker, which in itself will cause velocity spikes. By properly installing a siphon tube 100% of the liquid co2 will ,theoretically, be forced into the marker. That would be the ideal situation, and, as we all now, the world is not ideal.

Indeed it is not likely that just by improperly installing an A/S tube in your tank that you would create a siphon. I was simply trying to spread the word about the siphon tubes, because I for one was quite surprised and intrigued by the idea when HP initially introduced me to it.
By properly installing an A/S tube ideally you would prevent all liquid CO2 from entering the gun, but as you said, the world is not ideal.

Afterthought:This post is aimed at the above poster. If you are actually serious, disregard above comments, except the last one.

If you do decide to do it yourself, MAKE SURE YOU USE LOCTITE!!! If not, your tank could rocket off of your gun when you start unscrewing it, and you can kill someone!

You helped this guy less. You not only didn't help him, you gave him horrible advice that could KILL someone. Yes, it was a joke, but that doesn't make it right.

I did it in about 10 minutes, so it is pretty easy and straight forward to do. You just have to be a little mechanically inclined, have good common sense, and the right tools.
Here is how I went about it.
1) etched a line where the top cente rof the ASA is.
2) took of the bust disk.
3) wrapped the tank with something to protect the finish and tank.
4) Lightly clamped down the tank C-lamp.
5) Use the proper sized wrench remove the vavle assembly.
(I took a little force on my part because of the loctite/thread locker)
6) took out the little fitting that holds the spring and pin valve in place.
Too my surprise I found a bit of brass shavings in along with the spring.
7) cleaned the shavings out.
8) screwed and tightened in the anti syphon tube in.
9) bent the tube in the direction of the etched mark.
10) placed some thread locker on the threads and screwed the Valve assembly in to place and tightened the whole thing down.
11) Used a small strip of sticker from the vavle assembly accross to the tank. So if the tank ever turns seperate from the vavle, I would know.

Did you not respond? Like I said in the above post, your jokes are absolutely hilarious. I wouldn't call the said above post a flame, more of a comment on how utterly retarted on the advice you gave. Just to recap here it was:
step 1) hammer of valve
step 2) put tube in
step 3) super glue valve back on
As to me not helping this guy at all, I made several informative posts before you came into this thread with your "jokes". Due to the seen intelligence of your posts, it is obvious that having an intelligent conversation on this matter is not possible, therefore I will not continue reply to your posts.
