Yeah, you make long informative posts often, and hope a moderator sees it. If that's to boring contact me or Rory and ask how to get negative rep points.

Reputation Pts are basically numbers next to your name. Thats all they should be seen as. What mods do not like is people who complain about them. If you got a negitive point do not go carrying on to the mod staff, they will most likely just give you another. They are rewarded for good posts, and taken away for bad posts. I see it as a way to incourage good posts, and to give punishment for those who deserve a punishment, but not as severe as a warning. But shouldn't we all be making good posts, Reputation Pts. regardless? So, to not get a negitive just do not say anything that can be offensive to anybody. To get positive make good, detailed posts answering the question asked. That is about the jist of it.

Don't worry about trying to get rep points.

worry more so about learning about paintball. If you ask questions in the right way in the right spot I give rep points. if you help and answere questions for other members in a curtious and knowledgable manner you will get rep.
if you knowingly post things in the wrong spot and break the rules spam or flame you will get negative rep. the fastest way to get neg rep is by tell the mods that they are doing a bad job or just throwing around anti mod sentiment. Or you can skip all that and start doing the same to a super mod and just get banned.

really if you are a good forum member knowledgeable at paintball or not you can get rep.

new players pretending to know what they are talking about and presenting things as if they are an expert on the matter WILL NOT get you rep points. I was a newb years ago too and know you need to form a solid foundation and without that your playing ability and marker knowledge can go no where.

Was that directed at anybody in particular?

Everything I thought I knew about paintball has been updated, and everything I now know about paintball has been picked up as a result of this site and my dedication to using this site to learn about paintball.
