Good Start?

I am new to paintball for like 2 months, and I was wondering if I got a good gun for my first.

Spyder TL-R

Soon getting around $300 in upgrades including a new trigger frame, halo, and a 16 or 18 inch barrel.

If anyone would tell me if I am off to a good start or if not please tell me what to do.

Thanks...

Yeah i would say you have a great starter marker, just dont get an 18" barrel its too long to play in woods or speedball, 16" is alomst to long as well but its some what tolerable.

First thing i would do is get yourself a great barrel and probaly go HPA if you can afford to.
Myself i stick to Co2 because the tank was more affordable and i have a bulk tank to refill my own Co2 which makes it cheap.

welcome to the paintball sport my friend your gonna love it, but your gonna hate it cuz your going to be poor lol

I could help you save some money on a new hopper, i have a revvy with an Xboard up for sale. Has the old shell so its not going to break up like the new ones. works great and will include the batteries!

only asking $30 shipped but will negotiate.

DO NOT PUT 300 DOLLARS INTO A SPYDER. A low end gun will always be a low end gun. Period. Get the spyder, but if your willing to spend 300 bucks, save some more and get an impulse or even a BKO.

I agree with Alpha (yes, hells gonna freeze over ) I wouldn't put that much money into upgrades for a spyder.

Yes, it's a good starter gun. I would definately go with the halo (because you'd be able to take it your next gun-so worth it) The 18" barrell is a little extreme, no alot extreme. why not a 12" barrell. That'd be just about perfect (in my opinion). Like someone else said if youcan swing it HPA would be nice too for the same reason asthe halo, because it can transfer to the next gun you get, down the road.

Good luck and welcome to the wonderful sport of ballin'....it's addicting!

i just read in paintball mag that the have a T-board out now for the electro spyders, if you swtiched to an electro trig you could do this switch and virtually eliminate all ball chop and have the sam shooting capability of a high end gun, price for the t-board i believe were right around $60-70

a spyder with a t-board will not be near an impulse, bushmaster or any other mid level gun. Trust me, they always exaggerate in advertising...my friend got the kingman anti chop bolt....yet, his fenix is still a blender...

But..a spyder is a good starter gun...and if u will stick with the spyder then get the t-board...but dont expect it to make ur gun a mid level gun

so even with the T-board and the eye that comes with it it still wouldnt be close to a bushy in overall performance i know that, but you would have better chances to keep up with those fire rates and not have to worry about the ball chop.

ya, but you have to realize, it will end up being like a Dragun tes..which is a great gun..it will keep up...but it wont compete with the other midrange guns..

The reason is that it will still be a stacked blow back..but u could team ur spyder up with THE ONE KIT and it would change that, (it changes it to electropnuematic) then u would be closer to a impy or bushy

yup. don't put that kind of cash into a spyder. maybye mabye buy a revvy for it. 14 or mabye 16" barrel, nothing more. J&J's are good an cheap. thats the bulk of what you'll need to for a spyder. if i were you, i would just buy an egg actually, then use the rest of your money for a nice used cocker, bko or something.

a stock impy > tes w/one kit

I dont think that a t-board will work with a electropnuematic gun...Sine the TES already has eyes and is capped at 20, and the one kit comes with a new trigger frame...sooooo..ya

And..the one will not beat an impulse...not to bash u..but seriously..

And if the impy has vision...it will blow a t1 out of the water..

(by the way, if u didnt know...a dragun tes w/ the one kit= the one)

If you already have the spyder but are not willing to commit to a new gun yet, get universal upgrades, meaning hopper, HPA, etc.

yes i knew that im not a moron. and yes the t-board will fit on t1. and the t-board is capped at 36 bps (good luck reaching that) and it has break-beam eyes which the impy does not stock.

it doesn't matter if you can shoot 36bps on a spyder. because, just like any blow back, the recoil will make shooting fast very inaccurate and inefficent. no matter how much money you put into a spyder it will still be a spyder. I would suggest selling your current marker and getting a vision impulse or a BKO.

if you put 300 into a spyder + the cost of the gun you could have bought an imp. i got my game face for 350.

If you really do want to up it, do small things like a barrel. I highly advise against spending too much money on a low end marker. I kinda wish i hadnt put as much into my tippy as i had (but its a kickass woods gun now!!!!)
