Scope

Just another newb wondering about buying a gun that i can get a scope for later down the line , I hear that the hopper has to be placed of to the side to make room for the scope. I was looking at the tippman pro carbine and tippman 98 sniper but i am getting many mixed reviews on them weather i can get a scope on them i am hoping to spend 150 - 200 $ give or take
plz help

Save your money. If you must get a scope.. get a red dot for less the $30. Putting a cope on a paintball marker is like putting NOS in a ford escourt.

Paintball markers are not accurate enough despite all the hype about barrels, bolts, etc to actually put an aimed paintball on target using a scope.

just get a marker that is "power feed" or "left feed" then the hopper will be out of the way.. However, most markers today are made with "vert feed" so finding a new marker with a powerfeed will be tough. Best look for a used PF automag or autococker.

or just go with the tippy. sounds like you intend to play woods anyway which makes a tippmann the #1 choice. you are still saying that you just thave to have a scope, at least buy the gun and play for a while before you waste you money. as medic said they are worthless on paintball guns, not only due to their inaccuracy but also due to their short range. you'd be better off to just buy a tippy, J&J ceramic and an agitating hopper

if you want it just for looks, buy one ment for like a .22 or something, my friend did that and it kinda looked cool, even if it didnt work at all. you can prolly pick one up for like $10-$15.

One problem with scopes also is that it's hard to bring your eye close to it with most paintball masks. You would need a large one ($$$) to be able to see a large sight picture. For that reason, and the previously mentioned PB lack of accuracy I wouldn't use one myself unless it's for spotting. (A spotting scope can be pretty handy to help tell if that's a foot or a rock sticking out behind cover in the distance). Probably your best bet would be a red dot sight. Many people might say that they are pointless, but in the woods they come in quite handy if you have the element of surprise. It helps you get the first couple shots as accurate as possible. Once the firefight starts though you probably won't have time to focus on it.

If you do decide to get one, don't buy a paintball one, they cost a premium that you can avoid by shopping at a certain large discount store. $30 will get you a 30mm one that is fairly quick to line up. Make sure that the sight works with your rail before purchasing it.

Another good thing about red dots are that you don't need to worry about the hopper blocking them since you can view it just as easily as an occluded eye scope (One eye on target, the other on the dot) and even keep the front cap on to prevent paint damage.

One problem with occluded sites is that you loose your depth perception, but beyond 30 or so feet the divergence between your eyes is reduced so much that your brain uses other clues anyways.

Regardless of what you use, don't let yourself get tunnel vision. Always keep an eye on your flanks and rear.

like medic said get a reddot from cheaperthendirt for like $30 as your pb gun cant fire far enough to actually use a scope effectivelly.

Scope...ok the trajectory of paintballs first of all don't go as straight as bullets. If your getting a scope its either for two reasons: One it looks cool, two its too see from a long distance. I think the second reason might be a good reason to get one if your playing woodsball. If you are going to get one don't spend more than 30$ on one, and keep that many for other upgrades that will actually make your gun more performant. But if you got all the money in the world..go for it.

I can see the point of a red dot for woodsball, but scopes are very unneccessary. Think about it too...8 times out of 10, when you are going to take a shot at someone, they, (or one of their teammates) is gonna see you sticking out from behind your tree to shoot. So by the time you line up your sight...thwap. Gogged.
Also, if you are busy looking thru a scope, Your peripheral vision is eliminated...there is about 240 degrees of vision that you cannot see

I would rather use a small pair of binoculars for spotting.

most guns dont even have a dove tail to put one on so ur prolly just gonna have to stick with a tippmann or like an armotech or something along those lines

Blah blah blah zoom this, oculated that. If you want a scope get a 42mm red dot Simmons off Ebay. They are really handy for woodsball. Since your playing woodsball and want a scope I recommend a tippmann. It has all the features that you mentioned that you wanted. It has an offset feedneck and both the weaver and dovetail mounts. And they (scopes) will not break if hit in the lens by a paintball. I should know Ive taken many a hit to the red dot. Also when it comes to woodsball, the ruggedness of the tippmann will always make you happy.

98 custom is probably the sturdiest gun u can find, and since ur kinda new ull prolly be a little rough with it. and woodsball is just that way on guns so tippy would be my #1 choice if i was in ur shoes. and i agree with Afropaintball use ur money to buy a dropforward or a double trigger....idont really prefer the single trigger on tippmann's and a scope is almost pointless because it will get knocked around in the woods and become out of focus and jsut a nuisance (sp?).

98 custom. but theres no point to a scope. in the heat of battle you arnt gonna use a scope and a paintballs trajectory isnt, straight.
