Rate of fire isn't extremely important as of now, because some tournament leagues have rules that you cannot exceed 15BPS.
Also, you will notice a suprising amount of people play stock class (pump). People find playing stock class to improve your skill. You put yourself against the odds and work with what you got, and once you got a nice marker in your hands you feel unstoppable. It is like when basketball players shoot hoops with medicine balls, and then when they pick up a basketball they feel as if they can shoot a basket from half court.
It has also been proven that even an Olympic gold metal trackstar could not run through a constant string of 12BPS, making that the high rate of fires back players put out to lane people is mostly overkill.
The average pair of fingers will get around 16-17BPS (with paint), 90% of the people who tell you they got 18+BPS with no bouncing or without ramping are lieing.
So now you are wondering why people pay for hoppers that can feed 20+BPS. They do this because of reinsurrance. The insurrance that they have a paintball ready to fire when needed is what they pay for. These fast hoppers also elimanate the need for eyes, which can be expensive to buy.
Also, Timmies cannot do 18+BPS with paint. This has been proven on the Nation not long ago. Yet you still see many players using Timmies. Even though many of them do not know that fact, the ones that do do not care about rate of fire, or else they would of picked up a faster marker.
So, a high rate of fire can be helpful in some situations, but not as in as many as people might believe.
