a few questions...

frist off, i'm somewhat new to paintball. i got a gun a few years back and have played some woddball games with my firends here and there. however, alot of myfriends stopped playing but i wanted to keep going except i now have no one to play with. i'm thinking about joining a local team but i'd like to get a little more informed about tournament paintball and gun specs if ya know what i mean. so here's a few questions i have.....

1. what is a low pressure regulator? (or volumizer?)
2. i have a spyder xtra, should i upgrade my air system? and to what? (i'm using CO2 right now.)
3. what other upgrades would you recommend for a stock spyder extra?

thanx for any help/answers guys!

Low pressure is generally anything below 400-500psi. This just means the regulator only puts out a max of say 400psi. The benifits of lp are less kick and a slightly quiter gun.

The spyder will run fine w/ co2, if u are looking in getting a better gun then u'll want to get a better air system. Nitogen tanks are the step up. They can cost a lot, so buying a used one is a good move. Search the forums for more info on them, ur questions have been answered somewhere...

Barrel, electric hopper. Then start saving if u want a better gun.

LPR's are the thing that's under the barrel that sticks out. blowbacks dont have LPR's cause theyre not low pressured. what a stock extra has there is a Low pressure chamber. its just a hollow chamber.

like bobide said, co2 works fine on an extra for now. and if you want to upgrade to a better gun in the future, i suggest getting nitrogen. you can find a 68/4500 [best size IMO] Pure Energy tank for maybe 110 or so used. check this forum in the buy/sell/trade section. if you cant find one here, then go to www.pbnation.com and you'll find one there.

if you think you'll want to keep your xtra for a long time, then i suggest getting an electro trigger frame. after that get a electronic hopper. [either a Viewloader Revolution, or a Evolution II]
but theres not really a need for Nitrogen if you keep your extra, it'll work good enough on co2, and you dont want to waste your money.

its a regulator that lowers the pressure of the gas used to shoot the ball(the inline regulator is used to regulate the gas down to a higher pressure then that of the air tank)

You should upgrade to an air tank after you get a barrel, but before you get an agitating loader.

Get a barrel(J&J Ceramic), air tank(Pure Energy, Crossfire, Macdev), and agitated hopper(VL Revolution, Halo B), and then just get a new marker. In fact, Dont worry about the barrel not being transferable since you can resell ceramics for their MSRP($35) on ebay

what's ther point in adding a bunch of upgrades to your gun and then buying a whole new gun? to me it doesnt seem like it'd be smart to sink a bunch of money spicin up your gun and then just buying a new one. unless you NEED a new one that is...

let me try and answere my own question before you guys do...do you add all the upgrades to add more value to your gun so you can get more for it if you sell it? and THEN buy a new gun?

Yes, new parts do equal more money.

And about upgrading. I have payed around 4-5x more than I payed for my Spyder on it. Why? I know I might take a long time to buy a new one, so I make the best of what I have. If you play any kinda speedball, you'll see that after awhile in oreder to compete, a new more efficent gun will be needed.

it really depends. depends on if its in the pro's or in just a local field.
and there usually not just one gun that most ppl use. its spread out, there isnt a gun that most ppl use. so its a question that cant be answered

NO. if you're going to sell your gun in the future, dont upgrade your gun. i never said upgrade your gun and THEN sell it. sell it first, cause you wont get as much money out of the upgrades when you sell it as you will buy it.
i said if you think you'll keep the same gun, then go ahead and upgrade it.

-as stated below that quote the barrel can be sold on ebay for the same price you can buy it for(since a lot of stores jack up the price 2x).
-Air tanks and hoppers are transferable to any markers, non are specalized(except stock class pumps but dont worry about that). Therefor, you dont sell the hopper and air tank, you keep them for use on your new marker.
-There are some barrel thread converters but they are of poor quality
-Regulators and drops/rails/unis can also be transfered to other markers(with few exceptions...like the TES).

tl;dr those upgrades i listed are either transferable to a new gun or can be resold with little lost value.

just to clarify, if you do it right(look at kid's sig) you can have a spyder that can more then compete in recball but unless you want/need to keep one gun its more efficent to just get a new one.

Exclamation TES B How to operate?

Relatively new to paintball. I recently purchased a TES B for a decent price. However finding instructions for this thing is like looking for a hooker in church! Can anyone point me into the right direction for websites that might clear things up for me? Thanks.
