Stock or Upgrade?
Greetings,
First off sorry for another "what should I get" thread, but I need some opinions. Ive been playing off and on for a few years, mainly with spares and rentals, and I am looking to buy a gun.
The biggest thing Im looking for is accuracy and distance. Now I have no delusions about being a sniper, or gogging someone at 250 feet. Just want to be able to put paint on target time and again.
Most of that guys I play with run A-5's, Spyders, and Piranhas.
That being said I have about $300 for a gun. I have been wondering if I would be better off running a stock '04 BKO, or getting an electro Spyder\Piranha and dropping some money into a new barrel and bolt.
I already have a revvy lined up, and I can get Co2 tanks for free, but to get a HPA tank for the BKO would take some work.
So there it is. Live in a semi small town so I can test all the Spyders and Piranhas I want, but non of the local shops stock mid to high guns (special order only) so I have to rely on opinions from people who have shot them.
Thanks for not linching the new guy and taking time to help
=)

personaly id go with the bko but thats my opinion. Are you only playing woods or are you playing speedball or anything else, cause that matters too?

the bko is better, but i would get a blowback(spyder or spyder clone) for you. I make that decision on several factors:
1. unavalibility of HPA that would be recuired for the bko
2. price constraints- the bko can be bought used(2k4) for ~250ish, add barrel, hpa, etc and you are over your mark.
3. the fact that it is better than what everybody else has.

i would say either go with the spyder or find yourself a tinker gun(rm or mag or cocker). Realy dont know alot about the BKO's(werent popular.....in fact im not even shur they were out .....when i left last time), but lbreevesii is right, your bitting off a gun there thats gonna need hpa, and i can tell you from personal experience, when youve only got a couple of places to get it and they close, its a royal pain. At least with the spyder youll be able to run CO2 and itll be easy to upgrade. you can get a electro frame for one for like 50$ now i believe. i think the brand new electro spyders are 100$. for that price you can buy a nice barrel + whatever else you want and still have money left for paint

^^^he said 300...
if you like cockers...you can get them for 250ish used...and they usually come with pretty good upgrades.
The spyder Imagine is the best "bang for the buck" electro spyder...add a j&j or sp barrel and an anti-chop bolt and your looking at...about $200+
look in the Spyder Sub forum (under stacked tube blowbacks) and look at the "ultimate spyder" thread.

if you could get the BKO but for your price and what you want for distance you could get a 98c with flatline but it doesn't really improce accuracy

if you get a gun needing hpa you might want to budget in a scuba fill station(the one you hook on the tank) and a tank. I get the impression(although i may be wrong) your playing on a lot of smaller fields. HPA may not always be available and your gonna want to have a way to get a fill. That or buy yourself a cheap spyder as back up when you cant get HPA. I know of several guys in the area i grew up in( i know of a couple of the lost boys....) who have realy nice guns who cant hardly get fils for there tanks.

guys, the bko is not an option here. he doesn't have enough for hpa right away, bkos hate co2.
I suggest a cocker, which may be slow, or get a blowback (spyders are great) and drop a t-board in there. Bang, u have pretty much unlimited speed.

Ok with that in mind this is what I am looking at. Let me know if there is anything you would replace/change.
Spyder E99 Avant
14" Teardrop barrel
A CP grip regulator
Shocktech Superfly bolt
revvy with x-board
Thanks again for your time

Thats pretty nice. Is it a used gun? The cp reg will hate co2 if u run it though that reg. The only thing on that gun thats sorta bad is the barrel, b/c its a lower-end one, but it does its job fine.

Would all be new. Is there a better reg for running co2? One that would be fine with HPA or co2 would be best. As far as the barrel goes, im up for suggestions.
