Global warming is no biggy, it's like +0.001 degrees F every year. That means that every 1000 years, the average temp is 1 degree F higher than it was 1000 years ago. I'm not going to sell my coat just yet.

I agree with the person woh said we don't need ot act before we know the definite cause, then we won't waste money on something that will do nothing but narrow down the choices. as for global warming, eh. if it is the problem we will fix it the way we fixed the hole in the O-zone layer.

Al Gore isn't considered the pope by hardcore conservationists. They just highly respect him for being the only almost-President to ever have an extensive knowledge of what's going on in the Nation's and World's environment.
Global Warming is just like every other kind of movement, it has to be very radical to get the point into people's heads. Everyone cries "Give me proof, show me this is happening.", where when the visual results of global warming do (if they do) occur, then it will be too late.
Take the Kyoto Protocol for example. They conference was in 1997, and it called for action starting in 2007. The transition to a more educated and aware population of the world to the atmosphere's condition will have to be gradual. We can't just point fingers and make factories cut down emmissions. We can't stop coal burning all together. We'll kill our economy.
Conservationists want to make a difference now, so it won't be too late. I wouldn't consider it a religion, just a movement like the Industrial Revolution.

Al Gore was never the president, and certainly is not now.

Oh my. Disregard the president. It's midnight, leave me be.
And apparently so, Matrix My sense of humor past farting and burping hasn't really escalated.

Since global warming gets me amped I have to respond to this. You can not think of the earth warming up in relation to you. 55 degree weather turning to 56 degree weather may not be a big deal, but think about it as a human temperature.
When you have a 101 degree fever **** is going wrong, you're body isn't functioning as necessary. The gradual increase in air temperature and water temperature affects ecosystems across the world. Try and imagine a world with no pollination, where only humans can pollinate plants by hand. We take so many ecosystem services for granted, where we need to look at the long term ramifications.
Over response, satirical post, got it.

Think about it...
According to environmentalists we must respect mother nature, we must take care of the earth. If we don't, we will die.
According to them, it's because we haven't done those things that "global warming" is taking place.
There is no conclusive evidence that man caused global warming...kind of like there is no conclusive evidence that god exists. But this lack of evidence doesn't seem to make a difference in their devotion.
They expect everyone else to change their lifestyles because of what they believe in.
Anyone who doesn't believe in their cause is stupid and ignorant, or hasn't been "enlightened" yet.
They treat Al Gore like he's the effing pope.

Thermohaline circulation in the oceans is the pump that drives our climate (as we know and are used to it). Its like a giant conveyor belt of currents in the ocean. These ocean currents drive air currents. They also carry nutrient-rich cold water from the poles to other areas.
It is impossible to say for sure what the breaking point of thermohaline circulation is. But there is a point at which if the temperature is too high, the entire oceanic conveyor will stop, reverse, or do something else.
Combine this with melting of the ice caps and a large portion of the earth's land will be under water. Florida and much of California. Two of my favorite states.
Can't we just be a little diligent when it comes to carbon emissions and whatnot? It might not cause imminent danger, but over time it could change the entire world. We might be able to adapt, but we'd be killing off a lot of other species. It all snowballs

I agree that we should reduce pollution and find alternate sources of energy. I'm just against the alarmism and scare tactics.

More water content in the oceans --> Higher levels of water in the atmosphere --> more rain --> larger ice caps.
It's all relative in the end.

Well that's a very optimistic meteorologist.
I'm going to say that I disagree with that theory... for now.

I didn't read the link comrade so i'm not sure if this touches on that. It's been proven that the world goes through cycles of heat and cold. Earth gets very hot then it drops to much colder. also like 30 years ago people where scared of global cooling. So i just ignore all of the random "facts" people make up.
