Huckabee/Obama win in Iowa

Republicans: Huckabee wins dispite being out spent 6 to 1 by Romney.

Democratics: Obama wins over Edwards. Clinton takes 3rd.

I was a little surprized about Huckabee, when your getting out spent 6 to 1 very few people have a chance to win. Glad he pulled it out. You don't have to be super rich to win the election maybe....

Also, I was surprized that Hill-dog took 3rd. Not going to say I was upset, but surprized. Figured she'd be at least second.

No. These are the candidates that won their parties in Iowa. They have to win more states than the others running for their party. Right now these candidates simply have a 1 point lead in the race to run for president.

Paul got 10% of the vote during winter break and a bowl game. Should be fun to watch the rest of the caucuses.

Also, isn't 80% of the US supposedly Christians? So why not do what the majority wants?

because you can't "mix" religion with government.!! oh noes!

I totally agree, Religious leaders should not directly influence government and vice versa. Acting upon what a man or woman believes, however, is NOT wrong.

He's not advertising religious ideals, he's just going along with most of what the white catholics believe. (I'm guessing this is what you meant by him doing whatever the church/evangelistic Christians want). He's really just putting himself in a better position to get more votes, which is what every presidential candidate wants.

i disagree with him on several things:

his opposition of stem cell research
his opposition to civil union/gay marriage
abortion beliefs

i guess those are all more of problems with his personal beliefs than huge issues like the war, but i dunno, i just dont think i could get behind him as the leader of our nation.

and the chuck norris ad was just pathetic.

Alright, what do you think about all the stuff about all the other Celebrities backing the Democrats?
Aka, Hillary and Obama in the video for match box 20. It may not be comedic as the huck and chuck one, but it is the same all together.

So you think people should be allowed to have abortions? I think a lot of people would disagree with you, christians or not.

Same thing for gay marriage.

As for the stem cell research, he doesn't support embryonic research. The research that is in place now, which only one republican in the senate voted against, put in place in 2005.

now by embryonic research do you mean TRUE embryonic? or the short lived embryos that can be made using one gamete as well as a normal body cell that will start to split long enough to allow the extraction of cells able to be used for stem cells? i can't fathom why you wouldn't want to put stem cell research into effect.

i am pro choice. and for me its that simple. people **** up, they want to correct it. if my girlfriend was in college, and got pregnant, she would have an abortion. we're completely safe in every manor, but mistakes can still happen, the odds can work against you, and the fact is that having a child would **** her up. and yes, we had this discussion prior to having sex to make sure we stood on the same ground.

and yeah, im pro gay marriage. i dont understand why marriage HAS to be between a man and a woman. love is love in my book.

and i know people will disagree with me, thats fine.

and the chuck norris thing was sad, because it was just sad. i have nothing against celebrity endorsements, but when i saw the ad i couldnt take him seriously.

To throw out a candidate or saying you "couldnt take him seriously" over a humerous internet ad is just sad, IMO. He's reaching out to other groups of people.

the ad is just a small, small aspect as to why i would say i don't exactly see eye to eye with him.

someone asked for reasons about disliking huckabee, i brought up a few.

i could have sparked a religious debate as well, but it's just better to not really go there i guess haha.

I don't have a strong stand on abortion, marrige has always been between a man and a women. I agree with Huckabee on that. I supposrt stem cell so I differ their but over all I like Huckabee.

The Chuck Norris ad was awsome. What are all the people who run for office suspose to be stiffs with no sense of humor and no connection to reality???? I honestly hate canadates that are scared. All they do is pussyfoot around the issues and watch what they do no matter what. Huckabee seems to be a REAL PERSON.

Huckabee is not a "tool" of the evangelical Christians. He actually left his post as a pastor to focus on politics because of his distaste for religous structure, etc. There is also no reason why his faith shouldn't influence his public office decisions. It's wrong to say someone can't involve their relgious in policy decisions if religion is a huge part of themselves. Their beliefs are intrinsic to their personality. Arguing that peopel shouldn't have access to this is borderline fascism. The US government is designed so anyone who wants to can run for office and if he is doing so to change the world in such a way he sees fit, maybe you can take real action against him like working for a campaign or running yourself instead of *****ing about him being a tool.

Also, I am loving the hate Hillary and her now desperate supporters are throwing at Barack for being soft on policy. It's like they've shifted from being arrogant and pompous finger pointers to desperately mounting attacks against a legitimate threat.

Clinton never had a chance, in my opinion. Her own state said they wouldn't vote for her.
