Some of the alternatives are more expensive right now just because they're not mainstream. The day we eventually run out of oil, we will already have alternatives in place. They will have been developed to the point that they are as cheaper/cheaper than oil, and will produce the same or better performance. I'm not worried about the day we run out of oil at all. The damage we do with fossil fuels up to that point though...

I like most of Ron Paul's ideas, but some of them will never fly, like getting rid of the IRS etc.

The two candidates that I think are pretty good and actually have a realistic (albeit still very small) chance are Bill Richardson and Dennis Kucinich. The rest of the candidates I either think would be "tolerable" in the White House, or a disaster. None of the Republicans fall under my list of tolerable. Hillary and Obama I would find tolerable. Gravel too... but he has even less of a chance than Paul, so who cares.

I'm not sure what Huckabee wants, I know for sure Ron Paul wants to get rid of the IRS. He pretty much wants to get rid of all government organizations, or at least scale them back drastically.

Just looked and yep, both of them want to dramatically reform or abolish the IRS.

Its not how expensive a certain volume is, necessarily, its a more accurate assesment to compare dollar per mile rather than dollar per gallon. Example: gas can give you 20 miles at $3.50 a gallon, hydrogen can give you 100 miles at $10.00 a gallon. Hydrogen figues are hypothetical.

Uhhh hydrogen is a lot more volatile than gasoline, and to maintain the temperature that hydrogen is a liquid at is a difficult process in itself. (It's a very low temperature). Its not too hard to make, but to actually transport it and use it effectively and safely is a consuming endeavor.

Ron Paul doesn't believe in evolution which is pretty damn funny.

He gets crazier and crazier the more I read about him.

I know a lot of people who don't believe in evolution. What's funny about that? it's simply a theory of how things came to be; it lacks solid evidence just like any other theory.

it's perfectly fine to not believe in evolution, but be prepared to be viewed by intelligent people as as a crazy person.

I don't know anyone that doesn't believe in evolution, but then again my family and friends are educated.

Ron Paul is a MD, I'd say he's pretty educated. I'm shocked to learn that he does not believe in evolution though, I didn't know that... it is rather odd to be sure.

Yeah, I used to really like him because all I knew was what pro-ron paul internet fansters were spewing all over forums. He's for legalization, against big govt, about upholding the constitution. Sounds great, but the more I read up about him he just seems crazier and crazier.

He is anti choice. Actually wanting to CHANGE the constitution to "guarantee the right of life". http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:h.r.02597:

He wants to prevent govt. $ from being spent on "Family planning" which includes contraceptives. http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:h.r.01095:

He wants to abolish the minimum wage. http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d098:h.r.2962:

He wants to repeal the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d096:h.r.2310:

Not to mention wanting to dismantle the federal reserve and revert to a gold standard that would destroy our economy. How is he going to pay for a massive instantaneous troop withdrawal from all foreign countries with no money?

Can just go on and on.

Dark, ron paul is just a crazy christian evangelical, something that his internet bandwagon isn't aware of. They just know that he is for legalization and anti-war so they blindly follow.

I wonder how all his pot smoking fans are going to pay for their tree after he gets rid of the minimum wage. When tacobell goes to only paying you $5 an hour instead of $7.25 it makes life a bit more difficult.

chrome you pushed my button. you're officially on my **** list for calling me uneducated and stupid because some people don't believe what you feel is correct. It seems you also hate Christians. chalk that up as another point on my **** list.

Ron Paul definitely wouldn't be a great president, simply because what he wants to do is unachievable. He may have great plans, but they'll never make it past getting out of his mouth.

I don't hate christians, I just find it laughable that many of them don't believe in evolution. I'm not sure what I believe in right now, I would put it somewhere along the lines of slightly agnostic with a bunch of apathy. I would love to believe in something, but western religions don't have the answers I'm looking for, but I think it's great that many people have that.

I just don't like when people let religion get in the way of rational thought. It's fine for your everyday joe shmo to believe in creationism, but when someone could possibly be elected to the highest office of this country and become pretty much the most powerful person in the world, you cant make decisions based on 1600 year old texts. To me, as a former anthropology major, to not believe in evolution is akin to thinking that when you drop a tennis ball it wont fall to the ground based purely on faith of God. It's like looking at a red crayon and telling me it's blue when I can clearly see it's red. It just doesn't make sense to me and it's something I cant understand. It might be immature to deal with this by simply seeing it as "funny", but it's the way I view things and I cant and wont change that.

I'm sorry I offended you and I see that my post was a bit out of line but lets chalk that up to me being drunk and slightly an asshole.

That's the kind of elitist attitude that is going to leave you with zero friends.
There are some people who believe in a god who is capable of much more than just evolution. It doesn't make them "stupid," it just means that they have faith, something that has existed for thousands of years now.

I'm not saying what he said was right (I'm sort of playing devil's advocate) but for thousands of years most people weren't educated.

And through thousands of years, some of the most brilliant minds in the history of mankind believed in god without hesitation.

religion is very strange, its some thing most people could argue and disagree on for days. I have my own beliefs and so do the rest of you. Govt and Religion should NOT be together ever, it just ****s everything up.
