Teh embargo still stays though. Bush is an idiot and thinks his may spark democracy. pfft.

If the right steps were to be taken I could see it happen, but more then likely his brother will take over and dictatorship will continue on through him.

Cuba's government will be open and the US will have good diplomatic relations with them within the next 5-6 years. It won't be an overnight change, but with Castro out of the way I think the people will help the government move in the right direction. Castro's brother isn't the same as El Jefe himself, I doubt he'll suppress the people like big bro.

I heard about this in my Political Science class today, exciting stuff. Chavez will have to play soldiers with himself once Cuba becomes more democratic.

I don't see why not. With Castro out of the picture (especially when he dies), it is a lot more likely (over time, of course).
