Explain: NPPL,PSP,NXL,Millinium
I am confused.
NPPL is an American league
PSP is an American league
Millinium is europe
NXL is Xball league in America
It seems they all have the same teams involved in the leagues(sort of).
Are they just promoters.....with a slightly different format? Kinda like in boxing with 3 different titles. What am I missing and what do I have wrong?

your pretty much right
teams can play in all 4 of those leagues. There are more leagues actually(EXL, WPL, ect.). But those are the 4 biggest.
the NXL shares its events with the PSP. The NXL only plays x-ball and charges no entry fee, but to get in you must buy a franchise. The PSP plays x-ball at the lower levels, 5-man, and 10-man(though they might be dropping 10-man).
The NPPL was going to partially share its ranking system with mellenium but that broke up, so now the NPPL is starting events in Europe. Both the NPPL and Mellenium only play 7-man. The EXL is latched onto the mellenium the same the NXL is to the PSP. However, the EXL may be gone next season.

thats basically right, and yeah, like you said, most teams play in all the leagues except for the NXL, which is a branch of the PSP. The NXL is more like the MLB or NBA of paintball. It has franchises based in cities.

just to clear up the PSP...PSP offers X-ball but not in the same format that the NXL does...this is called Divisonal Xball
the divisions are
Pro X-ball (team like dynasty)
Division I X-ball: Fury, Jax-warriors
DIvision II X-ball: Femme Fatales, TIppmann Effect (they also play Division III Xball)
Division III X-ball: Empress, Epikpaintball.com (they >ed us), LTZ
The PSP also offers Rookie, Novice, and Pro/AM 5-man for those who don't want to play with X-ball rules...10man got killed which sucks becuase it was fun.
In the PSP socal open...Pro/am, Novice, and rookie 5man was called Div I, II, and III 5man respectivaly

To answer the original question-
The reason we have many different leagues is that paintball is a young sport.
Just like with the early days of baseball, and football. They both had seperate, independant leagues that were eventually combined.
Eventually, one league will aquire enough funding to BUY the other league, and then they will combine to form a larger league... and so on.
Rules and formats are all similar, with minor differences (to be expected). NPPL is stricture on rules, while X-ball has a "professional wrestling" feel to it.

I am a newbie and have been looking into all this stuff lately. The Xball style sounds very cool and I just found out today that they were here in LA over the weekend.......Shiat!!! I could have went but I would have gotten soaked since it rained here so much. I missed the ESPN thing in December too. Anyone know if NXL will be on TV soon?
It looks like I will be checking out the NPPL evnt in Huntington Beach in March though.

^the ESPN2 thing was cool. Boring commentary between games, but it was pretty well filmed and organized.
There's a good deal of Polotics going on between francises/leagues, so it'll get confusing at times.
