You said it man. If you run out into the middle of the area and start yelling or even if you just walk loudly then obviously you will be wasted. So yes, stealth is part of woodsball. If you are quite and can manage to get closer to the opponents then you have an advantage.


So in a simple sense, stealth is necessary to win no matter what.

That is exactly what paintball is all about. stealth is the key to paintball. Both woodsball and speedball. In woodsball you cant just go screamin and smashin around the brush. You move quickly but watch your step. In speedball you always have to be moving,or you are gonna get hit. But, you cant just go smashing into every bunker you slide into.

stealth is a skill, but it's just the fact that ppl worry so much about terms. Learn the basics. **********/bunker/hopper/300fps/co2 etc and just play..Hell, you don't even really need to learn them, you learn them as your skills increase.

My hole point is that just about EVERY place you go there is an arguement about weather or not "sniping" exists in paintball.

For example:

Webdog Radio says "...ther is no sniping in paintball. I'm sorry but there isn't..." (direct quote from one of the tech tip videos)

But then you see a webpage like this:

Where it's obvous (so obvous in fact that it almost looks like a joke page) that these people consider themselves "snipers".

If people COULD just ignore the "terms" and just play then cool....

...but hit the search button here on this forum (or any other paintball forum for that matter) and put in sniper and see what you get.....

i believe there are snipers in paintball BUT these are different from snipers in the normal sense. It can be used as a broad term to describe basic woodsball techniques, such as sneaking.

So in a sense paintball "sniping" really isnt sniping.

New players often hear the term and invision a ghili suited man toting a marker with a 21" barrel hiding on a remote edge of a woodsball field taking people out.

Ok. Do you people not see what is happening here? There are only 2 sides to this story. Both have now been stated back and forth 20 times each. This thread honestly can not solve any problems. Somebody says, " There are Snipers" and somebody replies saying "There are not Snipers."

Now that both of those statements have been said in every variaition possible, I feel that these threads need to stop being made.


POSSIBLY make this a sticky and people can argue on it there. That is better then having the thread created every day and wasting space. Sticky it and have people state their oppinions there.

Obvously you must be short because the point of this thread went over your head. (aka YOU didn't see the point). This is not ment to be the definitive be all end all answer as to if there is "sniping" in paintball or not. What it is is a discusson as to the merts of calling the act of sneaking up on your opponents and taging them out using consealment and stealth "stealthing".
