if you have oodles of cash and can play all the time then it might make you gain muscle mass and get your heart in shape unless you "snipe" and dont move one inch... hehe but who does that???

plain and simple..any form of running and excercise like that helps your cardiovascular system...and if you can keep your heart rate within 140 -180 bpm then that is the "fat burning zone"...but you have to do that and keep that heart rate zone for an hour plus. In paintball you really jump in and out of that range, even in woodsball. Like others have said it will help your cardio/conditioning and give you the ability to run faster/longer but it wont make you loose a drastic amount of weight.

140-180 is not the fat burning zone. That is above the VO2 max of the majority of people in ithe world, much less the majority of paintball players that are members of this forum. Fat burning zone is like 45-55% of your max heart rate. Max heart rate is 220 minus your age. Pretend you are 20 because it makes for nice round numbers, your Max HR is 200, your fat burning zone is 90-110 bpm.

Well, fat metabolizes less efficiently than carbohydrates, so it is used as an energy source when you exercise at a lower intensity. 180 bpm is an extremely high intensity. You would not be able to exercise continually at 180 bpm for very long.

it really depends on u. i have an extremely fast metabolism(the denists have to work in under 5minutes if they need to numb me) and i eat whatever the hell i want. i ate an entire pie yesterday just cuz i was bored and felt like eating. i have >2% body fat, im 5' 9", 140lbs. it really depends on who u are to gain/lose weight. and ppl really shouldnt go by losing weight..... if you lose fat and gain muscle, you are going to gain weight.

for some people (at certain ages) any little physical activity is a good enough workout. Paintball can be physically grueling depending on how you play and where you play. If your a very aggressive front thats playing in the arizona sun, you will definately lose weight.
