the days before and leading to the Ion

I was just thinking about all of the controversy before the Ion came out..First there was a talk of a new gun made by SP.. Then the rumor came out that it was made out of plastic!! omg.. Then finally, the rumor had to be cleared up.. etc etc

It's just funny to think how a few months ago this was all just coming out, and now its the best thing since sliced bread. Everyone has one, everyones getting one, or everyones being reccomended one..

SP prob made a fortune.. I'm actually saving up for one

just some of my thoughts..

They needed to make some major cash quickly. After losing a few cases in court, the fact that the Nerve was the biggest flop (failure) ever in paintball, and how they spent so much advertising on the Nerve they needed to make it up quickly. The ION was just that.

its crazy i went paintballing last weekend. The refs split the people into 2 groups, the newbs vs. the experienced people ( its so that the new people get hurt really bad and they won't want to play anymore ). i swear that 3/4 of the new players all had IONS it was crazy !!!

Ions are awesome for the price, no one can deny it. But unless the 300 dollar range is your limit, its not worth it. Id rather save up for something better. But the ion has definetly made its mark.

Sure, but everyone called the Stingray a plastic gun, and LIKE THE ION, it was metal on the inside, with a plastic shell.

THe ION is the modern Stingray. A gun good enough to keep up with everyone else, but cheap enough that it can be afforded by most. Yet, not without its issues.

VERY true... the nerve was a huge setback for sp along with the cases in court. They took a chance to either make an even bigger mistake or try to get some cash back, and they came out of the situation very well.

I don't think they'll stop producing the Nerve..

last i heard, they were re-coming out with an impulse. Sounds like a Nerve in different shoes to me.

Eat paint chips much?

I wont even bother correcting you, if by now people dont know exactly which parts of the Ion are made of plastic, they either have down syndrome or are just plain stupid.

Actually speaking of the days leading up to the Ion, Pizzer IM'd me the night before the info officially came out for it. He was telling me basicly what the pbnation rumor mill had came up with the Ion. He was telling me about it being a full electro pneumatic, break beam eyes, composite interchangable bodies, and best of all, that it would be below $300.

I called major BS on it because i figured if $1300 custom shockers didnt have break beam eyes from SP, no way some $300 gun would.

Boy was I wrong.

Like I said, if you consider the Stingray plastic, then the ION is plastic.
If you consider the Stingray metal, with a plastic shell, then the ION is metal with a plastic shell.

Six verses Half a Dozen.

For the PRICE, seems like a decent gun. Though, no better then a TES or BKO/PDS.
