paintball pistols and 12 gram co2..
Hey, well i was talking to my friend, who is just getting into paintball, and i mentioned to him i might buy a paintball pistol ass a cool sidearm/or a gun to have or to lend out.
Hes says that they stink because you only get about 6-8 shots with a 12 gram CO2 disposible tank.
As you can see i know Nothing about paintball pistols, can someone help me out here?

usually you get closer to 15-20 shots, but since they generally load with 10 round clips its not that bad. plus you can get the cartriges for like 10 for 20 of them and they load pretty easy.

The "average" is 10 for semi and 20 for pumps.
This works out well, since it means 1 TUBE for semi, and 2 TUBES for pump.
Guns TUNED for 12grams can get up to 40-50 shots per 12gram, using things like check-valves, and restrictive tubing.
Pistols are fun, but they can be EXTREMELY challenging to use.

I have a few pistols, there pretty fun to muck around with, and if your feeling rather foolish you can use them as primaries =p
My feelings toward most modern pistols like the PT series Delta's, Zeus's etc is there really badly weighted (front heavy) and sorta cumbersome. I've used a few pistols, and this is one catagory I can say that pump is not going to restrict you very much at all. (With 10 round capacity you don't really want to be hosing down the area.....). Also due to the relative Co2 Inefficiency of Semi Pistols, and the time it takes to change them, pump is a really good option.
I really enjoy the older PGPs, and I'm on the list for the first run of Redux's which should be amazing.

i dont like paint pistols, unless you are playing a stock/scenerio game.
you can get an imagine for $100. also, i think it is dorky when noobs try to use these as side arms in speedball.

there was this one kid who ran out of air and he looked like a spy and he put his gun down and pulled out not one but two pistols from those holsters on his legs and acted like a cop shooting while running and stuff. needless to say he got owned.

Yeah, I mean its not really practical for speedball, but can you imagine sprinting down the middle of the field with a pistol in both hands. You would scare the crap out of any newbs. It would be worth it to try once just to see someones face when you bunker them with two pistols right in they're face. And then you would get lit. But fun for a little bit anyways.

They’re really meant just for a backup incase your main marker fails and you wanna hang in the battle. Just keep in mind that pistols are not for main use, and they’re just as an extreme backup. They do their jobs well, so there really is no need for pistol hate.

Sure, there is always a few people that will use pistols, and stock-class guns in speedball.
Just for the challenge. It takes a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT style of play, and a great deal of skill, to even "get by" with a pistol.
In reality, they most are not really sutable for any type of paintball. Many are made rather weak, and were designed for shooting trees in the backyard.
