What happened to paintball?
Every time I come on here, someone speedballer is making fun of us woodsballers.
making fun of our camo, our tippy's, our remotes, our horizontal pod packs, our masks, our skill....etc...
I have news. You may not believe me, but Speedball is not the only type of paintball. I know it sounds ridiculous, but It is true.

I used to play woods ball until 2 years ago. But then i got bored with it and tried something new. I even play woodsball every now and then but I love the rush of speedball. I think everyone starts out with woodsball or playin in the alley with talons and trashcans for bunkers. Except for the richies that get everything handed to them from mommy and daddy. But they dont matter so just try not to listen to em. Basicaly wat im trying to say is paintball is paintball, its all about having fun.

Speedballers feel that woodsball people have a negative impact on the way paintball is viewed by the public. People that have played for years on tournament teams dont want people to think they run through the woods in camo when they mention that they play paintball. Cant blame them either.
Woodsballers feel that speedballers are pansies running around in clown outfits wasting thier money on rediculous amounts of paint. so dont think it is only one way. Scenerio/woodsballersa t my field feel the need to point and laugh at people wearing Dye gear simply because they think it's stupid.
Which side is right? Neither. woodsballers need to realize that speedball is the future of paintball, and need to accept it. Likewise, speedballers need to realize that woodsball is our roots. Most of us came from the woods, and were at one point running through the woods with tippmanns too.

I'll play any type of paintball I can, maybe it's because I'm still new to the game? I don't really see the point in arguing over which is "better". Seems to me that it's only damaging to the sport that from what I've seen/read in the past months needs a lot of support to become bigger. It isn't quite up to superbowl level yet

I just play and have fun. I'll play some speed every now and then if the field is to my liking, and if I have sufficient paint.
Or I'll go play woodsball and get down and grimy in the mud. Which also appeals to me.
Either way, I'll have fun, and not worry about what people say.
Especially the 14 year old with the DM5 that mommy bought them so they wouldn't get hurt, except they just sit around and take it apart all day and really acutally only play 3 games a day.

Speeball is the sport, woodsball is the hobby.

I have been playing woodsball for about 3 years now, and speedball for about 1/2 a year.... And to me, speedball is much better. Woodsball gets boring to me, dont know why but it does. But neither one is better than the other, both have certain skills you have to have in order to be good.

I spent the first two years playing nothing but woodsball, simply for lack of access/funds for speedball. Ever since my first speedball game I have been hooked. I still play woodsball from time to time, and find it a different challenge, no better or worse than speedball. Basically I'm a total adict, and I will play pretty much whatever form I can to get my fix. And yes, I have worn bdus to play speedball. Why? Because they are durable pants that I can slide and dive in, wash out easily, and are comfortable for running in. So what if they're camo and people think I look funny. I think they look funny with my paint on their face. All in all, speedball is the future of our sport, and what will gain it mainstream recognition, but woodsball will always be there and a large majority of the money that goes into the industry will come from woodsballers.

Like said above, Woodsball is our root. Speedball is the future. I am not interested in games lasting hours. I like to watch games and play them that are quick and to the point.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
My ex g/f thought that i was a complete idiot for "running around shooting people in the woods in camo".. she thought it was an immature little kid thing...
I tried to explain i play at a fast pace on "speedball fields" and it was a sport to me but she and many others just kind of laugh at me when i say this.
No offense to woodsballers, but being labeled as a little gijoe kid or an army wanabe person or w/e isn't cool.

when i first started playing paintball i played woods...but one day i was bored and downloaded a paintball video and it was a video of speedball...right then i knew i wanted to try it because of the intensity of the game.
The first time I played speedball, I loved it...and i have stuck to speedball since. Since then i have played woodsball 2 or 3 times.
I dont make fun of woodsballers in general..they like playing woodsball and i respect that...people that play woods a lot could kill be when playing woodsball because they have more experience and skill in woodsball....i just hate the people that think they are 'snipers'.

Says the kid with "My spyder owns your angel" in his sig.
You have to come to realize that the majority of members on this forum play speedball so expect people on here to have preferance towards it. And making fun of woodsball styles is something that I don't see happen on this forum. You want to get made fun of? go to PbN.
You think I don't get made fun of by the woodsballers at school? They laugh because my setup cost me $500 and say "my tippmann will do the same thing as your gun. why would you ever spend that much money?" But do I come onto the forum and b*tch about it? Hell no I don't. I just go out and play the sport I love.

yes
woodsball just comes to everyone's mind when they dont know anything else about paintball, and they automatically think that when you say paintball, that you mean "foolish hobby" instead of a serious sport. sorry, but that's how it is.

It goes both ways. I was saying how i got a yellow halo, and this kid with his 20 inch barrel that is supposedly "accurate" and "shoots farther", starts laughing at me like im an idiot. Meanwhile i'm thinking to myself "what an idiot..." at the mere though of a spyder with a 20 inch barrel.
Get used to it.
and bob05 or whatever.. exactly. When i tell my aunt about paintball they expect to see me in full camo and my aunt even said "wheres your scope?"... when i was shooting my mag, they could not believe the ROF it wasn't even fast because i did not have batteries in my ricochet.... the last time they played was years(10?) ago.

When you say that the people with the 21" barrel and camo were making fun of speedball, that doesn't really mean that any woodsball player is hating on speedball. It's more of a matter that those are the people that don't know any better yet, or refuse to listen to reason about why their barrel isn't worth it or their face paint is useless.
