Getting back into it.
Well it has been about a year since i last played, Now I am thinking about starting to play again, From what I have seen on here alot of new markers have come out. I am just curious about what has happened/changed in the last year or so. What is out for new mid level markers (I have 800 and am making 300+ a week this summer so I am thinking about replacing that wonderful little E spyder I have) By mid level marker I am thinking in the Cocker(vf not that VF tactical garbage) to impulese range. If any one wants to let me know whats new, Post here or catch me on aim, jamesbrownssn

Cockers and imps are dead man. The imp has been effectivly replaced by the new ion from smart parts. The $300 market is flooded w/ good guns. ICD has yet to deliver on the 05 midlevel models (the bko and b2k) Dm3s and 2k2 timmys are CHEAP, $500 used w/ ups. Dye has taken over the matrix line and redesigned it, creating the dm4, dm5, dmc. All good fast guns. WDP has released the 05 speed (it has eyes finally) and the G7, both awesome markers.
So, if u want a rocking setup. U'll need a nitrogen tank (there's a shortage on carbon fiber, so new tanks are a little hard to get) crossfire 68/4500 is a good one. And a halo B is a MUST now. Then u could buy like a Defiant II, a cyborg (special sale from ***************) or one of the great used deals out there.

i have an hpa tank, Impulse you say is dead, which means to me if I find it new it is probably cheap, how does it compare to the ion (other than the fact it is ugly.)
Oh yea whatis the cyborg (other than a marker, i.e. is it a blow back, is it closed bolt is it electronic?)

Get a Ion it will be right for you... I don't think Ion replaced Impulse's.... People around here always call them Fake Shockers....

i think that bobide knows that considering he has 4000+ posts. You can say the names of other stores, just not link to them.
Bob did a nice recap of current tech improvments. If your looking to spend a little more then a defiant II, used alias, or used matrix(look for one with tadao and evolve) would all be excelent choices. However, if your looking for something more in the cocker price range then a bushmaster(once they come out) or an ion would be excelent choices and would both surpas a cocker or impulse in pretty much every category. For all of these guns i would highly recomend a HPA tank and a halo b or reloader b(same as halo but sound activated). Good luck and welcome back.
bobide really shouldnt post even the names of the stores.....

MEchanically, what is the difference between the impulse and the Ion? Also If I understand you the reloader b is to the halo what the Reloader was/is to the Revy?

In my opinion, a fully upped ion is better than a stock impy. Reloader B=One the best loaders (along with the qloader and Halo B w/ rip drive) on the planet.

the reloader and reloader 2 are basically just revvies with boards that act on vibrations rather then an eye system(the reloader 2 also has a different shell)
The reloader B is basically a halo B with more color options for shells, a rip drive(so it can feed without batteries), and sound activation rather then an eye system.
An impulse and ion are very different, an ion is more like a shocker or matrix in that its a spool valve design. The ion is superior in pretty much every way(price, ACE system, recoil, weight, height, length, ect.) to an impulse

First off, and $800 gun now is no longer considered "low end".
Best chance for a great deal on a great gun is to head over to pbnation and look at the used guns. You can get crazy deals on used timmies and DM3's. Talking bout fully upped guns for $550-600. Then if you step your price range up a bit your looking at DM4's and Proto's going for $675-800.
After that all you need is a Halo and your straight.
As for Imps, dont even consider them.

It's overpriced for a blowback. Your better off saving another 20 dollars and buying an Ion if you plan on going that route.

ion($230)
Pure Energy Steel HPA tank($60)
Proto Switch mask($25)
Used Halo B($80) or ViewLoader Evolution II w/ z-board($70)
Thats an excellent starter set-up. If you want to upgrade it i would look into a CCM feedneck(impulse threaded), Progressive barrel(impulse threaded), and a CP regulator.

the ion and wrath are good choices for that price range, or if youre only into woodsball a cocker would be nice... mech ones are going for $250 or less, depending on the ups it could be more... you can also find an E1 cocker for around $400

ion, wrath, b2k/bko are all good choices if you're looking for cheap speed. they may be somewhat dead, but i highly recoment looking into a cocker, mech or electro. if youre into mech guns, a mech cocker would be a great choice , and you can pick one up used for around 3-400 fully upped (i suppose a mag would be a good choice too but i dont know alot about them ). used e-cockers are pretty cheap too, you could pick one of them up for 4-600, depending what ups they have on them
and for any of those guns besides mech cockers or mags, you wont NEED, (but i can guarantee you will want) a reloader b or halo b.

probably for significantly less. A friend bought a 2000 freeflow boxer with an E1 for around 375 and that was before the ion so now they should be super cheap...but i would still rather have an ion
