A new dilemma on the same subject.....

Someone wants to trade his Ion for my 05 Electra, but I just found out that I could be getting an 05 vision shocker with Nerve board this month.

Considering these will be my first real high quality markers, I have come to a new dilemma, just keep the ION and up it, maybe get some new gear too, or I can have a stock Shocker, and the ION as a back-up gun.

For the ION I would hopefully get:

Strange body
Orange bolt
Shocktech clamping feedneck
thebetterone or New Designz Ion Aluminum Roller S-Treme Trigger
Hybrid grips
cp uni
cp rail
Kila Products Ion Reaction Magnetic Ball Detent
Shocktech In-line Regulator
crossfire 45/45 hopefully
stiffi switch barrel kit

I already have a Halo B

Help????

I'd say wait, the electra will be a decent backup gun for now, and with 200 dollars you can put a board and maybe a bolt in your shocker.

you do have nitro and an electronic hopper right? you should list your equipment

You might have an easier time selling the Ion though than the Electra, so it might be good to trade then when you get the Shocker sell the Ion.

Would the shocker be stock? I'd say save the electra and up the shocker if so, but depending on the ups... then I would get the ion as a backup.

It would be a brand new Shocker, but I can sell the spyder and get ups for the shocker (but have nothing but a vl for a backup), or just trade for the ION and have a nice backup. I have a Halo B, and will probably be getting a Crossfire 68/4500 around that time.

Tricky, tricky... okay, here's what I suggest:

Shocker and ion, mod the ion trigger (take out magnet) get a freak kit for the shocker or ion, and get the other back for the other gun (say if you get a shocker freak kit, just buy the back for the ion, or vice versa). then save up for upgrades for the shocker, unless you don't have a halo and a nice tank already, in which case save up for those.... my .02

hmm. i would say it depends how often your going to play. if you play weekly, i say go shocker but if you don't play often i wouldn't spend a grand on equipment just yet (shocker + nitro).

don't think theres a need for a backup gun unless your a tourny player.

this is a good point.
i think it depends on confident you are in taking care of your gun. If you feel you can take care of the shocker fine, AND you need to have an upped shocker pretty soon, sell the electra/ion.
If not, I'd say it would be smarter to keep a backup gun, and then get upgrades as you go.

I feel that I would take care of the shocker, but it would be a couple of months before I can get upgrades.

good. then you can really tell what ups you really need. just putting 200 dollars in upgrades off the bat is stupid in my opinion.

hmm well, my final opinion is to get the ion, b/c thats a good deal in the first place..
and then get the stock shocker. It will come with the AA barrel and the On/off, and nerve board, and overall will be good to go out of the box for a while. I'm sure with maybe a new board and a few other things, you'll see a huge difference, but the shocker will be a big step-up from the electra in the first place, so you might want some time to get used to the gun anyway. a few months before upgrades isn't that bad, and if you play tourneys, the ion will suffice to a decent back up gun in the middle of a tourney, and you'll be glad to have it..
