often after the marker has been (ab)used for a while the safety will slip from one posistion to another easily. That is the cause of the vast majority of the gun problems i encounter when reffing. At least thats what happens with tippmanns.

Dude I dont want yellow pants so I wont get shot. Refs wear yellow stuff. I dont want to look like a player
I expect and LOOK FORWARD to getting shot. Getting shot is a big reason why I play. Thats what gives me a rush.
EDIT: As far as safeties go, all you need to do is put something in the space where the safety goes. that just takes away a bit of the space for the spring so theres more tension on teh ball bearing.

alpha, i think youre taking this job way too serious. i reffed for 3 years, its not what you probably think. its a very boring job. you walk around yelling at newb kids all day because they dont listen and you have to constantly remind them about barrel covers and masks. you also run into a lot of jerks who think they can boss refs around. its not like you are reffing a tournament, youre reffing walk ons, ALL DAY. do not spend money on "Ref gear" its a waste of $. my field and most fields will provide refs with yellow or orange vests, towels, jerseys, or something to put over yourself. basically you just start and end games. when reffing walk ons, they dont care about paint checks, you just stand on the sideline and watch over the game to make sure nobody takes their mask off. when you ref better players its a little diff, but a lot of the times you will ref church groups and bachelor parties, and thats about it. its a boring job

Um...thats would lead to 2 paintballs in the breach when they recock it. Therefore more of a mess for the refs to clean up. Then they will complane about paint soup, and inaccurate shots.
Safely and barrel bag is fine. Just remind them...

3-5 shots IS NOT overshooting, that is paintball. Some paint does not break, they should be allowed to get multiple hits, especially if they are bringing their own electro guns. That rules is kinda ridiculous. I know I always put a few extra shots on a person to ensure a break.

if the are not manipulating the prop, why can't they jump over it? As long as the don't contact the top of it, correct?
What if someone is doing a run-through, how are they supposed to comply with the 15-foot surrender rule? If they yell as they are running up, they lose the moment of suprise and can get hosed.

PA1N7 B4LLS has a point Alpha.
If you were reffing speedball it'd be a little more interesting/fun but if it's just walk-ons don't get to far ahead of yourself. (Kinda like the guys that shave their heads before they go to basic.)
