International rules of paintball (ref speech)
Can anyone help me make a checklist of rules? I've just been hired as a ref, and I havent gotten a schedule yet, but I just want to be ahead of the training.
Heres what I have so far:
- When you enter field mask goes on, and stays on until you come off the field
- Barrel condoms/sleeves are ALWAYS on outside of the field, and remain on until a ref tells you to remove
- Do not move or jump over the bunkers
- Do not blindfire
- If you come within 15 feet of someone, you must yell SURRENDER and give them a chance to surrender. They dont have to surrender, and in the event that they turn around and attempt to shoot you, shoot them before they mark you!
- If you are hit, check the spot, and if there is a hit, you're out
- If you're hit, put your barrel condom on your gun, aim your gun up in the air and yell HIT! and walk off the field. If you take your merry old time and you are hit by other players aiming at someone else, don't complain. Get out of there ASAP.
- When markign an opponent, do not shoot him more then once. Sometimes a few extra shots happen, and we can tell. If your'e caught deliberately overshooting a player, you will be warned, then kicked out.
- If you are confused, yell out PAINT CHECK and I will come over and tell you if your hit or not.
- If you are caught wiping, you will sit out a game. Do it again and I'll kick you off the field.
---
Rentals
- If your marker makes a sort of "machinegun" noise or it sounds like its shooting full auto, your out of air. You can continue to play and attempt to make players surrender, or you can call yourself out.
-If you're out of air, bring your marker to the refill station and a ref will fill the tank for you. Do not attempt to remove the tank from the marker.
-When walking around the staging area, keep the safety on and your gun uncocked. (show them how)
- If your just chopping paintballs and they are blasting out of the barrel, go see a ref and he will clean out the barrel for you.
- If you suspect theres anything wrong with your marker, bring it to a ref.

I wouldn't say anything about wiping becoming accepted in tourney paintball. It might be misunderstood and you could have some problems. That seems like a pretty good list though, you'll probably make a few changes that adhere to the fields regulations after your training.

I'd go with greg. You know sooner or later you'll have the wise guy that'll say he's doing it to practice for a tournament, or something long those lines. And then you'll have to smack him around.

I cant wait to get shot.
I want to get a bunch of ref gear now. Yellow profiler, yellow pbf style sticker that says REFEREE on the mask lens, yellow pants... Maybe I'll go with the empire tourney shorts

You gotta be like me and be a lazy ref that brings drinks onto the field and drink them with your rolled up profiler. Also coach everyone so they bunker eachother.

screw the surrender rule, it doesnt have any use on a speedball field. maybe in the woods.
also if your field is field paint only, make sure you keep an eye out for outside paint, and if you find it, bring the paint and the person up to the owner

True that.
When I am running up to someone's bunker I am not thinking "well geeze, I have to stop about 10 feet from that can and yell at him to make sure he doesn't cry", I am thinking about lighting his ass up.

At my field rules for advanced players are different then beginners.
We have a rental/beginner game
And intermediate game
And advanced.
Its not BYOP, and if I see anythign other then gray I'll catch him and make him wash off the bunker (other colors can stain them)
And its 15 feet here, and head shots don't matter.

The rules here are for field refereeing. This includes the young kids who are first time out. Not strickly speedball. Be a little accepting of that folks.
Basically you've got it. Don't forget rules about
-Chrono
-Dead men don't talk
-No shooting in staging area (goes hand in hand with barrel covers on)
-On a woods field, if they get close enough to tag them with the barrel and say Barrel Tag, the player is dead. (Essentially the up close and personal version of the surrender rules).
Other than that, you've basically got it. I wouldn't say "if you are caught wiping." The suggests that it is acceptable if you aren't caught. Phrase it more aggresively that "Wiping is strickly illegal. And anyone wiping will be removed from teh field immediately and sit out a game. The 2nd offense they are done for the day." That type of thing.
You've basically go it.
I remember the field that I was Head Referee at, had a vandalism rule. Basically anyone found defacing property, like shooting the pro shop or people's cars and such, would be carted off to the Pro Shop and pay a fine. (usually like 30$) and be done for the day. Half of the fine would be given to the referee who reported/brought him in.

ok well this one, i dont know how you would keep a rental uncocked, if its already cocked? i mean, would u push the bolt in and shoot?
the gun uncocked part is a bit clear, but you should change this to
When walking around the staging area, keep the safety on, and your barrel plug/sleeve on the barrel.

Go and gas up your spyder right now.
Hold onto the cocking knob, and shoot. When the sear trips the hammer, gently let the cocking knob forward. Now your gun is uncocked.
The rentals are piranhas. Just about any blowback can be uncocked.
Armo, thanks for the top. Gotta add chronying to the list.
I'll probably write this on a small card and laminate it and just put bullets off all the main stuff.
