what is this a fashion show
am i the only one sick of all of these people that are so concerned as to how they look while playing paintball? this sport has turned into a fashion show where if you dont wear certain thing while playing you arent "cool". whatever happened to just wearing a jersey and pants.

Since when has any sport been just about playing the game?
In soccer your not the **** unless your wearing $200 cleats and top of the line shorts and such.
Basketball you need the cool kicks and shorts, same with football.
It's the same as anywhere else in the world, what you wear defines who you are, whether your walking the streets of a city, in a buisness meeting or playing sports.

At my field, it's more about what looks cool and unique rather than who has the latest and most expensive gear. But of course this is all secondary to how you play... funny enough though, those who look the best also happen to play the best at my field.
(by look the best, I don't mean those who have all matching C5 gear or something... those who look cool and unique, as mentioned, happen to play really good as well)

I think making yourself look decent on a field is important and it has a limit before it starts getting stupid. Getting one pair of pants and jersey per season makes sense for people who play almost every weekend. But people that use there playing money to buy like pro jerseys are just stupid.
But if you have the cash to play and look good, there's no reason not to.

look at college and pro football players. they care what they look like
look at pro baseball players, they care what they look like
pballers have more lee-way with how the dress on the field. But you better be able to back your style up w/ skill. otherwise ur a poser

all of those sports you named are spectator sports. in those sports they dress up and look stupid to impress the crowd. in paintball people dress up and look like asshats to draw attention to themselves

Well I don't know about you, but I'd rather wear my realtree headbands, and realtree sandana, and my jersey and pants, and look good, then wear an ugly mask like a proteus and a sock hat and some jeans and a gay jersey and look like a *** when I play. Like, it's gotten to the point where it disgust me to see people play in that type of ****. If you can afford a highend gun, and if you can afford to be in a tournament, then you can afford to not look like a douchebag.
Like I agree with you, some people overdo it, they wear like 10 headbands, 2 neckdanas, 5 tailfeathers, **** like that, its just gay, and doesn't look good, and most of the time these people get made fun of.
But as Jerry said, if you don't have the skills to back up your looks, then you'll be made fun of.

The truth from Brandon.
Something like a sandana and a headband or a hat and a sandana is like all you should do. Wearing more than two things on your head makes you look gay.

woodsball = some old (but nice looking) jeans and a hoodie. maybe a headband/bandana to keep paint out of my hair, because that's a *****, but everything else is pretty unnecessary. i honestly dont have a need for jerseys, there aren't any speedball fields in the tri-state area (new york)... and concerning shoes, i see nothing wrong with an old pair of waterproof construction boots. and if your expecting good weather, a old pair of air maxes maybe (i'm a shoe collector, so that comes kinda easy to me).
I have no money for that matching c5 set... lol... i'm just trying to get myself some gloves.
shoes are actually a weird topic on the field for me. i dont know what's best to wear. What do you guys wear on your feet to paintball?

the tristate area has one of the largest collections of speedball fields in the country
as for shoes, some people like wearing cleats, i used an old pair of sneakers that i had

I had to buy cleats. It was a must for me. I kept slipping when I would try to push up from the right 20 to the center 40 or the X. I would run as fast as I could and I would just slip. I don't care about the cleats I just got some from Wal-Mart for 20 bucks.
Looking good in paintball is a great thing. Usually the gear that looks good is also better. If you buy pants you will get bounces off them. Look at the 05 JT Pants, bounces off them like a mother. Yes 100 bucks is steep for paintball pants but I'm looking to buy some very soon.
Plus rocking the headgear is tight. Nowadays I'm playing to the point where footage of me might be on a DVD, and I don't want to look like a complete noob out there.

paintball is becoming what skating turned into, a fashion statement
in sports i think teams should have uniforms going by what the word uniform means. they should all dress the same, and look professional. thats just my opinion
