spreading paintball support!
hey, i've been playing paintball for about a year now in haiti and it's starting to get to me how there are no fields or even stores that have anything to do with paintball here. I have been playing in the woods and makeshift fields with other missionary kids that have markers. Not one haitian I know has a paintball gun and most of them have never seen a paintball gun. Does anyone know of someone that would like to sponsor or donate money to a paintball club or field and help spread paintball in haiti? thanks

You can sell your own stuff for pretty cheap. My friend does it and gets us paint almost at cost. Pretty nifty.
(I think this is allowed on here, if not, sorry!)
edit:
I guess it's not.
Its a paintball organization who hooks up people with factory direct stuff to "spread the word of paintball."

Pyropenguin i guess that might work but the idea was more that the people here don't have enough money to just go out and buy a paintball gun.
Alpha, I don't really get what your asking but yeah were missionaries here on account of Jesus Christ.

Get all your equipment together, and host a day of paintball for some local kids.
Write letters to some of the organizations that sponsors your family where your at, and let them know that your trying to start a "Paintball Ministry". New sport, new religion to kids. Make the letter business like and people will probably donate.

My coach once told me, "If you don't shoot the ball, it's an automatic miss."
The worst people can do is say know, just get yer foot in the door.
Have fun, and let us know if it works for ya.

ok thanks for all the input. will try raising some support for it. I was thinking more of like a group or a store that gave money to help spread paintball but I will try this.

Honestly, I commend you on trying to spread the sport. But there is no way people over in Haiti can afford to play paintball unless EVERYTHING gets donated. You will have an extremely hard time getting fields to donate money, as owning a field isn't a gold mine by any means. I know an indoor field in Boston has an extremely high rent, and paint there is like 80 bucks a case. I don't think they'll be shooting any money my way if I were to ask. People in Haiti also have a very low per capita. On a list of 232 countries, in 2004, Haiti ranked 193, pulling in $1500 per capita. There are guns that sell for more than 1500. That doesn't leave a lot of time and spending money to play paintball. People will rather work and earn to buy food, then spend 8 hours playing paintball.
Also, you have to realize, and you probably do, that Haiti is a tiny island, not a lot fo room to use for paintball. 27,750 Sq Miles makes up the entire country, roughly the size of West Virginia. Now instead of the 1.8 million people who live in WV, stick 8.1 million people there, or the population of Georgia. That may not seem like much, but Georgia is almost 3 times the size of Haiti. Not much room for a field.
Also, 52% of the population is literate. Meaning out of every 100 people you walk by, only 52 who are older than 15 can read and write. Comapre that to 97% in the US.
Again, I commend you for trying, however, I can guarantee you it's nothing more than a lost cause. They don't have the income, resources, and there are other things to worry about over there than spreading paintball.

yes I kind of agree with you after thinking about it more, but there would be room for a field if we could make one because I have been to all three mayjor cities in haiti (port au prince, cap haitien, and les cayes) and you would be able to buy land somewhere. Yes and since not even half of the population has jobs it would be nearly impossible to have them pay.
