im just wondering, wut is wrong with ppl having drops on their ions and getting lowered ratings for it? I cant stand it when i hear "get rid of the drop" its all preference to the user.

its personal preferance, exacally. you ask someone's person opinion on the gun and they don't like drops, then they won't give it the same rating. and alot of people are just trying to follow a fad. right now alot of people don't prefer drops so others follow them just because alot of people don't like them.

to a certain extent it is personal preference.
But then agian couldnt you make an argument that any aftermarket product is "personal preference". Should we not take points off on an ion in the "rate my gun" section if the user prefers the stock trigger to a cp or ndz one? what if he prefers the stock body to a strange body? or the stock reg to a sidewinder?
Drops are a relic from paintball's past. Drops increase height, which is a much greater disability then the length that they save. Furthermore, they make the user adapt to an inferior and uncomfortable shooting posistion.
Even if you do need a drop due to your body size(the most common excuse for having one), it is still not the best option. Presently, there are many different sizes and shapes of tanks. If you do need a shorter set up buy a stubby, 45/45, or a smaller co2 tank(ie: 12 ounce rather then a 20 ounce). In fact, the cheapest air tanks, 48/30's are quite small.

it's preference, if you feel better with a drop on, you have a right to leave it on...and btw, i dunno about you guys but i'm not deathly afraid to adding a inch or two to the hight of my gun anyway.

they add weight, height, ugliness, and dont serve a very practical purpose.in my opinion, a unimount > drops. it wont exactly make the gun shorter, but it wont add unneccessary length like a duckbill. drops hurt my wrist anyways, they usually either give you a guage or fill nipple sticking into your arm, or if the drop is long enough, the tank will bend your wrist out and make it hard to shoot in a way that your arm/hand isnt exposed.
plus, if your gun becomes too short because of a huge drop, that 45* degree grip frame suddenly becomes impossible to hold onto. for me, a 68/4500 on a unimount is the perfect length. not so long that it makes the gun unbalanced, but not so short that its uncomfortable either. most people also feel this way, which is why most people dislike drops.

Also a unimount makes things look more streamline (IMO). Smooths out the lines and contours of the profile.

A drop creates bad shooting posture making it impossible for you to excel in your game.

I hate drops. Like chrome said...they aren't good for your shooting posture. One of my friends has a HUGE drop on his Ion (is actually a drop with a custom made extension thing) and I used it for a game...ah...so uncomfortable. I also think drops look like complete ****, and can pretty much ruin the way a gun looks.

Would you rather have some big ass thing that puts your gun so low. Or have a nice little rail that lowers it a little bit and makes it just right and isn't some big ass thing thats ugly? I'd sure has hell pick the second thing.

I have a drop.....
The only reason is because my its the only thing i can use with my armageddon tank atm.... .... errr, actually i remember i have a rail i can use
But i dont care if somebody else uses a drop, but i would rather not use one. Because they really dont help that much.
