The only question I have here is that I don't see why so many people diss the Ion. My brother has one and I have to say, it ain't too shabby and he didn't even modify it yet. I can't tell you how many times I've seen players diss the Ion claiming it to be "for noobs" or "why get an Ion when you've got skills" or "the Ion sucks compared to blah blah blah". I just don't get it. People think that just because its a tournament grade marker made for people who don't want to spend all their money (or more accurately their PARENTS' money) that it is a terrible gun. What do you guys think about this whole thing? And if you are someone who has dissed the Ion, tell me specifically why you have such a problem with it. Just don't just sit there and ramble - "It's a crappy gun, the barrel can't shoot the broad side of a barn and I heard from my friend that the feedneck fell off, etc." You get my point. Lets all try to be civilized here. I just want to experience both sides of the argument. Thanks.

i dunno, because ion's have like taken ovr paintball, either everyone has one for their back-up or main gun and ppl are sick of seing them/ "rate my uber ion" threads.

Ion's are crap. They have ****ty regs, or should I say reg, since Smart Parts still hasn't put an LPR on their guns. They are made of cheap parts. They are inefficient. They are slow. Noobs have them.

Why are they a noob gun? Because the majority of people who own Ions suck. Plain and simple.

My "Tournament grade" gun is better than an Ion. Any Ion. My gun is lighter, more consistant, more efficient, faster, better looking, easy to take apart, doesn't have a plastic shell, comes with good parts, and looks a hell of a lot better than any Ion I have ever seen.

I love it when ****ty players think that everyone with a nice gun has had their parents buy it. I have baught all of my guns since I sold my cocker. Yes, my mom supports what I do, I don't see why you have to be jealous about that. Sorry my mom supports what I do.

Well he has a point. It is indeed made by smart parts. Also, the only kid with an ion I know well enough to judge is an ass and I hate him. But of course, when there are as many owners of a gun such as the ion, stereotypes are bound to form. You also have the numerous kids who get ions and think they're the ****. It gets annoying and these people are the ones who get remembered, though there are plenty of good people with ions which aren't horrible markers. Oh well.

actually, i own an ion...i dont suck...there ARE people who own ions who DO suck, a LOT of them...why?

because ions are 285...slap a crappy nitro tank and a revvy on top and you have some decent firepower...

my ion is nice...i spend a TOTAL of $320 on the gun to make it nice

barrel, Shocker Maxflo, Strange Trigger, Unimount, CCM feedneck, QEV, Black ION=$320

put my halo and 45/4500 on it, and its a small, fast enough gun...as for efficiency, the qev helps BUT i always have all day air so its no problem.

Their reg is far from ****ty, +-3 when its broken in, can handle the guns cap with little to no shootdown. The gun already operates at a low enough pressure that a lpr wouldn't help lower it much more, just like the shocker.(sidenote, Nerves come stock with LPR's) Cheap parts? That's what you get for 300 dollars. It's NOT gonna be the same quality as an ego, and you should damn well know that going into buying it. Even still, the gun isnt going to snap in half, it will hold up fine to tough play.

Your tournament grade gun costs close to 1k more then the noob gun. Of course its going to be lighter, more consistant, more efficient, faster and better looking(which you mentioned three times in your arguement).

I agree that some people that own the Ion suck. But what some people are doing are sterotyping everyone who owns a Ion to the image of some kid who started 2 months ago and just got a Ion for his bday.

No Ion can get over 1400 shots from a 68/45. A Viking can get about 2200.

Ions are mechanically capped at around 23. Vikings and mags can shoot paint at 30+.

Putting upgrades on a gun will not make it any smaller, so an Ego or Shocker still is smaller.

I have seen Vikings run +/-1 through 50 balls, I have never seen an Ion under +/-5.

No gun will ever be as reliable as a Mag or Viking.

Yeah, the ion's stock reg. is just the luck of the draw...some are ok, some are horrible. Mine was +/- 20

Naw, they don't suck, they're reliable, easy to work on, light, decently fast for the price, they aren't bad guns. Just very popularly owned.

Yes, Ions are not nearly as good as a lot of tourney guns. I knew that going into it. I also knew that, as I buy all my own gear and wanted to play now rather than wait a few years, I didnt have the money to spend on your tourney guns Barber.

My Ion is a work in progress, but I love it just as much as you love your precious mags and egos. Yes, I envy you, and I know your a better player with a better gun.

What I dont like is me (or any other good ion owner) being compared to a n00b with an ion as his first gun. I can take my Ion apart and fix it pretty quickly, and Ive been able to use it well. Ive upgraded it, and more upgrades will be coming, but like i said, I have to save the cash to do it.

Now, I understand where people come from when the diss the Ion. I agree, the plastic bodies can be ****, but one of my upgrades was a Trinity Sick body. Very few people on the field recognize it as an Ion on the first glance, and what saddens me is that that is the only reason they dont laugh at it, even though for the most part I can own them.

The players expirienced enough to recognize it, thankfully, are smart enough to realize that Im not some spoiled n00b, and will treat me just as well as if I showed up with an ego or a mag.

With all day air for $3-5, I could care less if I get 2200 shots per tank, my tank isnt even that great. Its a crossfire, go ahead and laugh, I really don't care. It works for me, and even better, I earned and payed for it myself, and it works well.

Will my Ion ever preform like one of your precious egos or mags? No, it wont. What it does do is preform to the level I need, and is affordable to me. So, laugh at me for using it if you will, but I am perfectly happy with my Ion, and nothing you can tell me about your 1k+ guns is going to change that.

I have an Ion, and am not proud of it. I wouldn't say I don't like it in general, but it's not that bad. I hate all the douche bags that try to trade their slightly upped Ions for dm4s and other guns along those lines. If I owned a dm4 (or a gun of the same quality), I would never even consider trading that gun for ANY ion, unless the person with the Ion was adding a TON of stuff.

The only reason why I still have my Ion, is because I know I won't get **** for it if I try to sell it online.
