I think it goes hand in hand with the smaller you make something, the more expensive it gets. That’s why the Pro Duo memory sticks cost more then say, the normal SD ones that are twice its size. It takes more money to make things smaller.
I feel it’s the same with making things lighter. Normally when you try to make things simple, which in turn makes things lighter, you have to integrate different aspects all into one, and that takes research and a lot more work. So in turn, the price is upped. And also, the smaller it is, the lighter it is, which goes along with my first point.
Also supply and demand (as huey said) has a lot to do with it I think. Almost everyone in the paintball industry wants light gear, so the light gear is more expensive.
