the entire issue presented here seems to revolve around the majority of the viewers' willingness to learn the boundaries of the sport. Once people have done that, they can begin making up their minds about who they want to win etc. I'm sure that paintball on tv to someone who's never been is just as boring as football was for me when I was little. I didn't want to give the time to learning the sport's complexities, hence, the sport had no edge for me. Given the amount of time that football has been around, people (enough to fill couches across the world) gradually picked up the rules, tried the sport for themselves, and started playing more and watching NFL. I think that promotion isn't going to help an entire sport as much as it would say a garage band. The best conclusion i can come to is exactly what pretty much everybody else has, that we need to give the sport time to grow on people. There is no doubt in my mind, however, of the eventual success of the sport. I can picture the crowd going wild at a massive bunker or something. The whole paintball on tv idea is sick&agg&shwangadelic. keep the dreams alive, ballas.

I feel that this is one of the most valid things posted so far. Being on ESPN and broadcasting into millions of households will drastically improve the sports chances for mainstream success.

I also somewhat agree with the others who came right out and said that paintball is not a spectator sport. Even with Xball hyped as the best hope for PB on tv its still not exactly the holy grail, though its geting closer.

One other factor of not getting into Olypics/Xgames/etc is the factor of cheating. Cheating runs wild in every league, from wiping hits to ramping guns, and we still have no sure-fire way to tell whos cheating and whos not. To me, this will be a defining factor of paintball in the mainstream

Paintball has a big chance to prove it can be a very good addition to the X Games. It has just recently become huge, and more and more fields and shops are supplying paintball stuff. Think about it. Huge chains like MC Sports, DicksSportingGoods and more are carrying paintball stuff. I bet withing 5 years paintball will be in the X-Games. As long as more and more people get into it, it will be in the games

Also, most people I've asked about paintball (grownups, teachers, etc) think paintball isn't a sport. They all think it's a hobby. I think the whole deal with Oliver Lang will help some, but to most people it just doesn't seem to involve that much skill. My parents view it as a little hobby where I run around and shoot my friends. They don't even consider it remotely as a sport, and when I told them I wanted to be a professional paintball player when I grew up, they just laughed at me, and it makes me really angry. I just wish they understood that to us, paintball is the same thing as the NFL is to others. They just don't understand.
Yeah i agree, all those people can go to hell. I hate how people think its not a sport.
