I'm assuming you stripped (rounded out) the head, from using the wrong size allen wrench etc.., and you are now unable to remove it with pliers or vice grips, because it is holding your rail on, which prevents you from having anything to get ahold of. What you need to do is get a drill bit just slightly larger than the diameter of the screw (threaded part, not the head). Drill straight down through the head and into the screw. This will cut the head off of the screw, and allow you to remove the rail, and twist the screw out with pliers. I will draw pics now

try using needle nose plyers, or a vice grip or soemthing. otehr than that, splat's idea should work, if you have the right sized drill/bit

i filed the sides of the screw and then used a pliers... makes for an easier grip on the screw...

Try with a flathead and wedge it in nice and tight and try to unscrew if not, take a drill and bore out a nice clean hole and use an "easy-out" like this:
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item....re&dir=catalog
That's what I did with my tiny eye cover screw and it worked well.

If you drill too deep, would it not strip the threads?

There is the chance of that when your drilling too.
The vise grips are the best bet
Cause if the problem is made worst that means that some one gets to learn how to use a set of EZ outs (They are a royal pain to use)

no way i would risk drilling, too risky.
stick the largest allen key that will fit, and instead of sticking it dirently 90 degrees into the bolt and rotate, stick it in and jam it in as hard you can and attempt to rotate it out. it might be stuck in there really good and this wont budge it.
so then you can get a tool made to remove stripped bolts
there called "Bolt-Out Damage Bolt Remover" or something of that nature. you will find it at your local hardware store
once its out, obviously replace it

You drill slowly, and stop as soon as the head is cut off. THen you just back out the remaining bolt with pliers. I'ts way easier than it looks/sounds. I've done it tons of times. I had to do it to everyone of my hockey skate axles once, after too many stops on asphalt ground out the heads.

You just drill a little bit into the head so its nice and even and clean... Then take an easy out to it and it comes right out.
You don't want to scratch the body or whatever your screw is holding, do you? Use an easy out...

I should note that if you have easy outs, that they are superior to my solution. However most people don't own these wonderfull devices, so my idea is the second best.
