i was browsing through a few old magazines I had lying around, and look what I found.

Look familiar at all? (from September 2004 Popular Mechanics)

Yes it's modeled after a real gun. Most scenario markers are.

This has been common knowledge for a long time. SP modeled it after the XM-8 rifle. The XM-8 is the "next gen" assault rifle for the military. Its supposedly modular, being able to be converted to sniper, machinegun, compact, and standard modes, as well as accept a myriad of accessories with the rail on top and a possible rail on the handguard. It was the child of the OICW project, which was scrapped because well- it sucked up a lot of money and really didnt do anything.. Big problem the feds seem to have... Spending money where its not needed.

You'v ebeen alphatized baby.

Hmm...well im just slow then. I knew most milsim markers were obviously based off the military, but this one had slipped my memory until now.

The XM8 project has been put on the back burner for the time being to allow other gun manufacturer's to come up with thier designs that fit the criteria of the Mil's "Modular" gun idea.

Seemed good on paper but many in the Mil were not that impressed with them.
