I Need Help!!!!
I need some education here about brands (and the quality therein)....
I play a moderate amount of paintball and I have alway's preferred spyders over PMI, brass eagle, etc. because I thought them to be inexpensive and are of better quality. Although I realize that you get what you pay for, I seem to keep running into these stores and repair places that tell me that they are consantly getting bombarded by people bringing in their broken spyders (cup seals, o-rings, etc.).
Do spyders "suck" this much?! I have owned four spyders and am looking to buy my fifth (e-marker). But, I'm afraid of buying one now. I have never had any of these problems.
I am standing by with an open mind.

nope you'll be just fine with your spyder. a cupseal leak isn't realyl all that common, but it's also exremly easy to fix by yourself. they're extremly amazing to maintain (I'm sure you know this already, seeing how you won 4 of them)

as long as you don't just beat the crap out of them spyders are usually fine. every company has the freak product that is a lemon. just make sure to oil and clean after every play and you should be fine

Why do you keep buying spyders? why don't you upgrade them or better yet buy a different type of gun?
You've owned 4 already so you should know how it all works and such, it's really pretty simple. We have a spyder specified forum in this forum so you can get all your help from the spyder techs here if you have any questions
theirs other good guns around the price range keep your eyes open

Spyders are not reliable at all. They are made cheap, and yes, you get what you pay for.

YOu live in texas dont you?
Anyways, spyder arde pretty easy to maintain, after a year of heavy use, the worst problem with my pilot was a cupseal leak.

O-rings, etc are pretty minor fixes. Just get an o ring kit (not sure where they make them, if they do), and you'll be fine.
I see you listen to KVRK, whereabouts are you? Where do you usually play?

spyders are pretty reliable if you take care of them. at my field, i always get people asking me to help them with their spyders, but its usually just an easy fix. i personally would get something different though. you'll definately have to save up some money. go for an ION maybe...i just think after 4 markers its time to venture out into the non-spyder world.
nice sig mavsfan31 haahaha.

the reason spyders are brought in is the same reason as IONS, its because of the people who own them. The people ive seen with ions for the most part beat the crap out of it as if it were a tippy. Not gonna work, just make sure you take care of it

wtf u talking bout they are so reliable y do u think lots of fields use them for rentals cause they are very durable (drop em, hit em, ect and they probly wont break like others) yes the performance is not the best but they are good for their price. I hate it when people coming in asking wut marker to get (not u btw lol) and there like anything but a spyder. Spyders are better then all spyder clones (well almost all) and there a great gun for people new to the sport. thats y people say they suck because they are great for people new to the sport and people think well there good for new ppl they must suck. i have owned a spyder for 3 years and the worst thing that has happened so far was i had 1 o ring bust on me and that is like a 50 cents repair. In ur case (do u have hpa and a e-hopper??) i would go with an ion. they beat the spyder in performance and they are around the same price as the more expensive spyders

..... I know of no feilds that rent spyders. Not one in my area. That's 6 I've been to. IDK who would rent them, I know 2 of the feild owners personally and they wouldn't dare rent spyders.
If you take out the word "spyder" and insert "Tippmann" then you'd have a true statement in that big paragraph.
I'm saying that spyders have more problems then just o-rings, becouse i've seen it happen time and time again.

did ANYBODY read my post??!?!?
its because of people who own the gun thats why they brake
do you think(for the most part) that a really great player who is completly prepared and knows the ins and outs of his gun is playing with a spyder? Probably not
the spyder is commonly someones first gun, and with that leads to problems, because you just dont know how much work goes into taking care of it
this is what has led to the false representation of the ION being unreliable and many other cheaper guns....
but yes a tippy is REALLY reliable because you can throw it at a tree and it lands in water and its fine...

It's a product of who is using the marker. Spyders are primarily beginner guns, which means most of the people using them are unfamiliar with teching one and are often afraid to take their whole marker apart. After they've played awhile, things get much easier to diagnose/treat.

please leave your tippmann bias out of this... obviously your bad luck with spyders is because kingman does not like you... this should be a sign for you to steer clear of this thread and let people who actually own a spyder at this moment give true information instead of falsified biased junk...
spyders are great, i own an imagine right now, i havent broken of chopped a ball for about 2 cases of paint (all i shot through it so far) it functions smoothly, and is pretty quick. take basic care of it and you'll never have a problem other than just normal aging and wear after a while. i much prefer a spyder over piranhas, and all the others.

Falsehood. Spyders are reliable unless you dont take care of them. My old spyder i have i've had for like 3 or 4 years and it works as well as it did when i first got it. The only problem i had with it was that it came with a scratch on one of the threads and air leaked out of it, but we just tightened up the the thing and it worked fine.

.... I have a spyder in my possesion, it's broke. Junk e-trigger dosn't work.
The reason i'm posting here is to let him know that people (like me who know how to maintain a gun) have had problems with spyders. If i steer clear of this thread and only let the people who like spyders (like yourself) post then they only get one side of what he's asking.......
Like i've said before, i've found spyders as a whole to break down a lot. There ones that go forever, i know that, just like there are tippmanns that break right away, But I feel that spyders are not that reliable. Take what I say with a grain of salt becouse i must be biased becouse i've seen them brake down.

My spyder never snapped in half when I dropped it, or whatever, and thats enough durability for me. My spyder also never broke, because I actually maintained it. So if you're a complete retard, and want to run over your gun in a car, get a tippmann. If you are mature enough to use common sense with your markers, and want better performance, get a spyder.
