ION hater (and killer)
Well ive been dieng to make this thread because it will raise alot of hell
(im hoping)... and it will be somthing interesting to talk of
To me an ion is a ''noob worshiped marker" from were i play because well, noobs worship it! im guessing its because it has decent speed and is made by smart parts and its cheap. sigh...
the things freakin plastic for gods sake and it really pisses me because noobs think WAY to much of them they think they are gods with theese
so try to get the noobs or begginers to stop flaming their little plastic bundles of joy
the only friend i have that has an ion has a cyborg to and his ion was kind of a back up project he pimped its performance out to the max so i dont car about that whad do u guys think

hate is such a nasty word
and for god sakes its a GOOD GUN...
I never brag, but i have yet to shoot a gun today that is more accurate than my Ion with a Lucky 15" on it. and when i play, i am AT least in the top 5 overall players of the day. With my Ion...
Id like every1 to have their gun capped at 17bps and play a game. see who wins, then determine whos the noob

also, u must not know to much about the ion if u think its plastic... the only plastic part on the ion is the shell. and if u really have anything against having a plastic shell then thats fine because there are lots of body kits for them that are non plastic, so just chill...

ions are in no way a noob gun, a tippy or a spyder is a noob gun, an ion is a high end marker, and you cant deny that, it has vision electronic solenoid, simple construction, and its low pressure...its very hard to own me with my ion even if you are totally ripping on me, its not really the marker, just how you use it...and if you can use an ion then you can rip faces...end of story

Kids who think their cheap gun is God's gift to paintball have always been around, and will always be around. This is probably the first time these kids actually have a pretty decent gun to worship.
The only time I've ever seen an Ion owners up in arms about their guns being so awesome is on the internet. In person, that has never ever happened to me. I wonder why...
The best thing to do... is have a good chuckle at their ignorance and ignore them.

No. It's a great gun, for the price, but it is far from being a highend gun. Some highend tech incorporated into it, yes. True highend, not even close.

You know, some high end tech used to be in the Tippmann E-bolt, and I don't go claiming that to be god's gift to paintball.
I think the problem with ion worship is, well...the price range. Now hear me out on this part. It's a gun that has most of the features of any high end out there. But its priced enough that nearly any new kid to paintball can buy one. What's nearly every new player think? Right. "My gun is so awesome."
Darktamer said some if this already.
Its just new player syndrome...applied in a new way.
And Ion's have been out for a while, most of us have adapted to it.

The ION was, and continues to be, a very cleverly marketed product. Basically the only thing that keeps a player from buying a high end marker is the price. Smart Parts very cleverly reduced its manufacturing costs to offer a basic, entry level, electropnuematic marker that has many features of a higher end marker, but at an entry level price. The remainder of the entry level market has failed to keep pace (Tipman is trying with thier new e-marker. But it looks too much like a Mr. CLean Car cleaier then a marker to me). Smart Parts is doing exactly what they wanted to do -- increase market share, and sell markers. The fact that 3 out of 5 markers on an entry level field are IONS is testament to that fact.
The fact is is that an ION is a decent marker. The price makes it very attractive to new players and vets alike, and the tons of 3rd party accessories and parts make it a tinkers gun now as well.
The last word here -- if my paint is on your goggles, does it really matter what marker I shot you with?? Its still about skill and using a tool. I have seen people compete with a pump and do well, and I have seen folks stink up the field with a $1200 electro -- depends on the skill of the player.

I'm Looking into moving up into an Ion because it would be a great improvement over my spyder and 98c i would feel like god if i had a better marker (just like i did when i got my spyder to replace my old winchester) I'm pretty excited about the Ion because it's cheap but can still hold it's own against most other, higher end markers. It's mostly the player anyways, ive played speed ball with my 98c and owned guys shooting DM5s and one guy who had an Angel. ( I was pretty proud )

here's some food for thought...
YOUR a "noob"
or should I say a dumbass? either way your no better than the kids that think thier ions are good. Mainly because they are right. Their ions are good.
And you shoot what?
An impulse?
No ****ing wonder. Your pissed there is a gun that shoots better for half the price, half the size, and half the weight.

Personally the ion is a good gun, but it has alot of hype. like how every new player back in the day wanted an angel. its just hype based on marketing. get over it or gtfo of paintball. it's always gonna be that way.

lol. 'post reply' to this one... ::mumbles something inaudibly:: but it's all for the best - ions are not gods great gift to paintball... but they are a great gift indeed...
let me first say that i have an ion... it's nice. i also have a pm5, now i can shoot my ion or my pm5 and do the same thing on the field either way - so why spend the extra money? 'cause the pm5 or whatever high end marker you have has extra style, feel, and capabilities... it's soo much easier to take a pm5 and start ripping, and it looks cooler too... but i have a virtue in my ion and it shoots about as fast... it's just not as smooth... i guess you'd have to feel it... lol...
the ion does not by any means suck - but they're not as amazing as a lot of people claim, but they dont suck... i've tinker'd with my ion so much it's more like a high end marker now - but it's still not... and it's still just an ion... but it's an impressive ion!
i'd have to say the best thing about my ion though is how personal it is to me, i had to have my proto anodized to make it feel like my own marker - but the ion, even though most of my upgrades are simmilar to other peoples upgrades, i put them in myself and tinker'd with them myself... it's totally my marker...
i dont think it's quite fair though for you to say ions and people with them suck - it's hard to afford to play paintball, buy a car, go to college, pay rent, bills etc - and then fork out 1k+ for a high end marker... if you can even afford to play at all... i've seen so many great players 'stuck' with ions 'cause it's all they can afford - and they kick arse with them! and when they brag they dont brag about the marker, but use it in the arguement that they just whooped up on some other people with it...
so this thread really wasn't necessary - and neither is your 'hate' for ions... get over it guy, if your marker is nice, than great! but if you keep getting whipped by players with ions and are upset - keep it to yourself...

^^ OMG... i couldn't have said it better.....and why would you say ions suck when you don't what they are capable of doing yourself? Who knows, you may rip with one. So stop the hating....

Umm i was ripping on fields with a JT electronic paintball gun. I watched all the videos you can, read all the ariticales and memorized the fields.
The person makes the gun,not the other way.
Dont be upset thos kids are beating you, they probally would with a pump anyways.

Ions are the ****..........and can shoot very very nice if the right aftermarket parts are put into it. Take a look at the new lucky spitfire board and hard noid for them........omg they are soooo nice. I would take a ion over a impulse any day. Imma find where you live and mug you will a stock ion. Actually you live in nc aswell, why don't you pay a visit to my feild and start talking **** about peoples guns and see what happens to you there. Has it ever crossed your mind that some people may not be able to afford a better gun so they have to settle with a ion?
