Get a tippmann 98 custom
20oz CO2 tank
Regular 5 dollar hopper
mask with thermal lense

prolly find the whole thing as a set on ebay for less than $200.

Welcome to the sport and please think safe.

It depends if you want to play speedball or woodsball. If you were going to play woodsball, definately go with the Tippmann 98 custom, with a regular gravity fed hopper, a 20oz Co2 tank, and a Jt Proteus (you don't need the sportz comm, it's a waste). Also look into getting some pants (you don't need a jersey yet.) If you are going into speedball, I would get an Ion, a cheap N2 Tank, A V-force Profiler, an Evlution2, and some pants.

you don't need a jersey or pants. your probbly not going to jump straight into tournament play so don't waste your money on them.

IMO, 1st invest in a good comfortable mask. Then decide what kind of marker you want.

Best advice.

If your mask fogs up it doesn't matter much what marker is in your hand.

jt spectra pro, 35 dollars thermal, looks exactly like a proflex but 20 dollars cheaper and is a hard lower body...super comfortable, i have an ion, super happy with it, if you want speedball get that, if you want to play woodsball i'd say a tippy or a mech spyder or even a low end cocker

I think I'm going to buy a tippmann, however, is it worth it to get an Ion? Also, when I look at websites they list MANY versions of the Ion.. are there any major differences? ex, Ion SL, Ion Pro, Razor Ion..etc. I should manly be doing speedball. Thanks!

The Ion Pro has several upgrades already on it that you may want to get if you get a regular Ion, as do pretty much every other type of Ion.

yea, go to your local shop and ask about masks to everybody - pick a mask and then look into what you want... get a mask then look into a marker

i would honestly suggest a spyer imagine, they're cheap - and they're electric... so you'll learn the basics of that and you can use it in speedball as well as woodsball without a problem...

you dont need an expensive hopper or tank with an imagine but you can get them when you're ready and if you decide to...

a lot of people start with mech markers and it allows them to appreciate the electric marker they get - but as long as you know that you could be a lot worse off, i wouldn't worry about it too much...

but yea - happy hunting and gl on everything...

The Ion is definetly worth it. People who say Tippys are all that is needed for woodsball don't play it hardcore. In my opinion a Tippy can't shoot fast enough for effective snap shooting unless you are really good or it is E-gripped. It also won't chrono as consistent as you would like. I have both guns. I like the Tippy but prefer the Ion. And if you E-grip a Tippy you just spent as much as Ion.
