Sponsorship
What exactly dose a sponsor do, and what would i need to ask a local buisness owner to get them to sponsor me? (my team)
We're a 3-man team, and i figure we could have team "jersies" (Tee-shirts) made up and they could have our Name/logo, the player's name and Number and then an ad for the buisness.

sponsors pretty much give you money in exchange for having their logo on your jersey and gear.
Also, if you get sponsored by a paintball company, they'll give you discounted equipment.
But, I don't know, I'm assumng you're going to ask a local bussiness to sponsor you... It all depends on if they're target market is interested in paintball at all, I wouldn't go ask a dentist who specializes in making dentures to sponsor my paintball team, because odds are he wouldn't do it.
Sponsors aren't going to throw money away, if they sponsor you they have to find a way to use you to reach potential customers interested in their product

mostly the only kind of sponsors you're going to get is local companies, because for them, sponsoring a local team is a cheap way of promotion. You could still try if you wanted to, but I seirously doubt a large corporation like Pizza Hut or Dominoes is going to look at you

Different sponsors do different things, and you should approach different sponsors differently.

Correct. There is no one answer.
Some sponsors will give you money. Some give you gear to use. Some give you food/drink to give out and popularize. Some give discounts on their stuff.
A field will generally give you free entrance and cheap/free paint.
You in turn will always offer advertising in form or another, if it's a field perhaps you will ref and help maintain the place.

Heres a good goal for a starter. Get a local buisness to sponsor you, they give you free drinks/food and fir your end when you go to an event or to practice, you hand out some of thier products and some coupons.
I think the'll go for it. You guys do away with food expenses, and they get great marketing.
its a win win kinda delio.
