Contract
I'm drafting a team contract and was looking for suggestions on what to put into it. So far ive come up with:
1) Must pay dues
2) Must attend / assist with fundraisers
3) Must attend all practices / meetings unless excused __ days in advance
4) May not skip a tournament unless excused ___ Weeks / days in advance
5) Must abide by any and all team rules
and i was thinking about working in some penalties for breaking the rules / contract points

but some people just need things to be set in stone, or ink as it may be, in order to function, and it gives you some backing in case of an argument, like a constitution.

Yeah. Ive always been looser on the ends. Nothing wrong with either way though.
I would deff. write in some penalties and punishments though, but dont be too extreme. People are way to likly to quit.

you remind me of one of my friends i had when he first started playing. bit of a powertrip if you ask me. i say you should go for your local fields team. an established good team, dont try to make your own unless they are your very good friends. your not going to attract anybody worth it with that "contract".

A contract...? Yeah... no.
What are you going to do if they break the contract? Sue them?

If I were on a team that tried to make me pay dues, I woudn't be playing for them unless I was winning every tournament I played with them. Even then, it probably wouldn't happen.

our contract was just for fun .....one of the rules was that u must have seen Anchorman at least 3 times...
we are like a family, no need for a major contract....but everyone knows not to miss practices and tournies

Yeah.. you're how old?
Anything under 18 wouldnt be legally binding anyway. If you cant trust your team, they you're not really a team.
If your teammates dont KNOW that they're SUPPOSED to show up to practice, and they're SUPPOSED to play by the rules, ect ect. then you need a better team.
Good luck with that...

Don't worry about the contract bro. If they argue just decide what to do with them or kick them off and find someone else.

ok, wrong word, how about rule book? and the dues thing is because were opening a team bank account, the dues go in there, and so dose any fund raiser money, donations, and maybie a little prize money (if we win) and then the account pays for the entry fee into tournaments

i've seen this kindof thing tear teams apart before... it usually happens with a simple 'i cant come to the tourney this weekend, my mom is busy' or something that happens when you play with younger people and need this kindof thing...
then you try and penalize them for not going when there's nothing they could've done...
argue...
loose trust in players on your own team and cant play together... dont trust they'll have your back, dont trust they'll follow through...
if you really think you're going to need this you should find new players and friends you can trust... even if they're not immediately great they can get better - specially if you're hosting team practices...
just forget about the contract if you're with friends, if you like structure, write out lists for your team and setup practice times, not a contract they have to follow...
