used dm or pm as dark mentioned. or a used timmy or shocker. whichever out of those feels best to you. decide if you like spool or poppet and go from there. open bolt guns (timmys, egos) tend to be more reliable than closed bolt markers (dm's and the like) used. it just depends on how well the person before took care of it. each has their benefits. open bolt guns are easier to maintain, and are very fast. closed bolts are more accurate, etc. if you want something new, i don't know what to tell ya since i havent tried any of the guns on that list. i have, however, held the epiphany and the rail, and both feel very nice. i liked the rail better feel-wise. both seem to be good guns. the epiphany has some better stock parts in it.
i was in the same boat as you, but i got lucky and picked up a brand new ripper 2 for 450. otherwise, i think i wouldve gone with the promaster (and put a crapload of ups into it) or the rail. mini is too new and has too many bugs. give it a while and i'm sure it will rock. btw, dark's thread is awesome.

There are so many used guns in that price range, you could get the Shocker, DM4, PM5, Nerve, Freestyle, older Timmies, Up'd Promasters, and all of the new ones, like the Epiphany, Rail, FUsion, and Rail. You might also want to wait to see what the new WGP Worrlock looks like, looks interesting, and I hears it was around that price range. I think it is coming out in Febuary some time.

I was gonna suggest that. I'm also winning to bet that you could find a pm5 or dm5 for around $400 on the nation if you look really hard.

I am positive that you could find a PM5 for that much, I strongly considered buying it. There are several, that is the average price that they go for. As for the DM, You would be hardperessed to find one for less than $500. The DM4's go for 400-500. I have been in the market lately, considering both of those guns.

PM5's are selling for as little as $300 depending on what upgrades or anything like that. I talked to the local shop owner and he said that the PMR is a better gun than the PM5. His reasoning is that they are pretty much the same thing but the pmr is lighter, newer (warrenty and so on), and you don't have to worry about buying used than.

Hah. Doesn't that use the same spring return system as a BKO?
I personally don't trust plastic parts, a new feedneck and frame aren't things I should have to pay for when I buy a gun. The promaster and ion are both good for the price, both have not so good stock parts.
Personally I'd save up like 100 more and buy a used ego, or Pm5.
