fallen has a point!
but ya ESPN, may...MAY not support paintball, in all honesty if your not really into watching the ENTIRE thing, it is dull...then again...nascar...but that has crashes but ehh its a 50 / 50
but ya, in the next decade or 2 there will be new advancements and paintballs will lower in price and more $$$ can be spent towards gear, so the sport will grow..we just gotta get better so we can start spraying and praying in style

Smart Parts didn't shut AKA down. AKA is still going strong, they're just not making Vikings anymore.. Vikings were going nowhere though, especially since the 04 Viking was just a fat Ego. With Egos out now, Vikings would be long gone anyway.
I think the next big advancement will be new machines to create paintballs. This will lower the price a little bit (Think $35 a case for paint that is usually $50 or so), and get more people playing. I think guns have gone as far as they will go for a while. Guns are already super light machine guns, so I don't see them improving. The next gun improvement is the new intellifeed systems with the RF technology. The Pulse has it, and the Halo will soon.

I just think mainstream coverage is the best thing to happen to the sport, with tv, movies and video games covered, even some guy that lives in the mountains probably has heard of or plays paintball. lol

SP sued AKA and because of it they weren't allowed to produce their vikings anymore. in the time that the vikings weren't produced, they woulda gotten tot eh size of an ego and the ego wouldn't have been just a knock off marker.

the best thing that can happen to paintball would either be...
less damaging coverage and more coverage which reinforces the positive of the sport of paintball...
- or -
less idiots playing the game and hurting other people by cheating and later, going out and shooting cars, houses and kids trick-or-treating.
- or -
reduce in prices so not just the most dedicated players are able to afford the game. thus, less people saying 'i cannot afford this anymore, i'm selling all of my gear'

Exactly, I don't have a job yet, so it leads me away from the more expensive markers. Just a little bit would help.

I think what Barber said is true, maybe not what this thread is about but very very true. I think that guns are at their limits for the time being, they are fast, light, and small. All clothing is high tech as well and it isn't going to get much better. I think paint could also be where its at. With new machinery or w/e paint prices could come down, making everyone happy, as well as getting more players into the game.
And now that I read what I wrote, Barber was on topic, the cheaper paint will allow for more players.

ehh, personally watching paintball is almost as boring as golf, imo not a spectator sport really

AKA stopped producing Vikings after the Ego was designed.
AKA was more or less done with the Viking anyway. They were moving on the the 'Evil M' and the Cocker parts. Shortly after the SP lawsuit AKA broke up anyway, with Voils starting STD.
