Paintball is a sport in every sense of the word. Here is the definition from dictionary.com:
SportPronunciation Key - [spawrt, spohrt] –noun
1. an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
By that definition paintball IS a sport. I've been playing paintball for almost 8 years (the last 4 competitvely) and it takes skill, physical endurance, agility, strength, mental sharpness, etc to play paintball competitvely.
Not just anyone can step onto the field and play at the pro level. Those guys grind hard, day in and day out. Playing a full on X-Ball game is no small feat. Why do you think most teams run two line-ups?
I suggest that you challenge your friend to play paintball against experienced players and see how he does. Because according to what he said he should be able to walk on the field and play at the pro level. Take him to the field and school him on how paintball is really played.
