you ca buy it, but it wont' do you any good; all markers shoot the same distance. If you like the look of it, a 16 is the absolute longest i can truthfully recommend to you.

That wouldnt be bad if you just play woodsball. Have you tried speedball yet? If you haven't just give it a shot then get a marker that suits either one, or both. Whichever you prefer.

speedball guns are better suited to play both rolls in my opinion, but hey, that's just me. GO OUT THERE AND FIND THE GUN OF YOUR DREAMS!

I have an A5 M-4 Mil Sim and I still use my Spyders most of the time. The weight differance is huge and the Spyders are faster as far as BPS. With that high of a budget you have a ton of options for markers. Go to a shop and hold as many as you can. One thing to think about is if you are going to use HPA or CO2. every marker can use HPA but the same cannot be said about CO2. You could try an Spyder VS2 or an (I can't believe I'm suggesting this) Ion. For a barrel look at a 14" J&J or a 14" Smart Parts. Your range is governed by the FPS as it leaves the end of the barrel but you should limit this to 300FPS or less. This is about 200MPH. You do this so others will do it FOR you. Hot Guns Suck.

Exactly. The longer the barrel, the more CO2/Air that you have to use. If you think about it, as the paintball travels down a barrel that is excessively long, it will lose speed, therefore you have to crank up your velocity to obtain an accurate, long-range shot. It is due to this fact that you will go through a 20oz CO2 tank in a lot less shots with a barrel longer than 16" than you would with a barrel that is 16" or less.

As for your marker choice, I am kind of fluctuating. I personally have used a regular mechanical "woodsball marker", and an electronic "speedball marker" for woodsball, and I like both. They both have their pro and con.

"Woodsball Markers:"
-Durable
-Accurate at long-ranges
-Usually loud
-Usually gas inefficient

"Speedball Markers:"
-Not as durable
-Not as accurate at long-ranges
-Usually quiet
-Usually gas efficient

Due to the fact that I play a lot of speedball, and even in woodsball, like to be right up on the front lines, I prefer the "speedball marker" over the "woodsball marker" due to it's gas efficiency, compact designs, and muffled sound. The choice however, is up to you.

I mean that's pretty much completely wrong, or rather innacurate. FIrst of all, what exactly is a "Woodsball" marker? Have you ever looked at what the best scenario teams use? They use "Speedball" markers, like Egos, Angels, Pimps (which although outdated, are still meant for tournament play).

Secondly, these statemtns are far to vague and generalized, they can't possibly be applied to all woodsball/speedball guns.

-Durability - Woodsball guns will break just as often as speedball guns. Unless it's a severe case, the majority of guns will perform fine so long as the user performs proper maintenence. If anything, woodsball guns are less reliable, as a lot of them are knockoff spyders or tippmanns with a lot extra stuff thrown on.

-Accuracy at long-ranges - Completely wrong. Accuracy is mostly paint quality, barrel quality, and paint to barrel match. If anything, woodsball markers are more innaccurate at long ranges, as the majority of them operate on some sort of blowback platform.

-Loudness - Depends on the gun, and barrel. The majority of guns can be customized and tuned to be pretty quiet. You could always get the SP1 or something, very quiet and it's designed for the woods.

-Gas efficiency - Yeah probably. That's because like I said, the majority of woodsball guns are based on some sort of blowback platform, which have made no real advancements in efficiency over the years (save for the VS series, but there are no VS style Spyders designed specifically for the woods). Air ram and spool valve markers on the other hand have been improving in every way over the years; of course... you could always just pick up a black or olive "Speedball" gun and you're good to go, sans scope

What defines a woodsball marker and a speedball marker is simply what you use them for.

I use my Angel and Quest only in speedball couse I don't want them all beat up. While i use my Pump and Piranha in the woods couse, well if I run out of paint I wouldn't think twice about throwing them in a last ditch effort. lol.

YouCantSeeMe's post was a generlization.

The gold standard for me is that I want a durable marker in the woods and a light fast gun in speedball. Durability isn't as important.

I'd prefer something that has all three attributes, IE. ______ [insert any modern mid-high end gun designed for tournament play].

That's not necessary

Just be sure the advice you're giving is correct in the future It's one of my pet peeves when people give inaccurate information, even when they mean well.

Any modern mid-high end gun isn't durable. Or is so expensive you don't want to test it's duablility.

When I say I want a duable gun, I mean I want a gun that I can crawl through mud with, jump off of a 10 to 20 foot ledge with, run through the woods with, and possible sumerge in water.

Well any modern mid-high end gun work well with out breaking? Yes, but I like to go to the next level with it, so I'll stick with a cheap mech, pump, or tippmann for the woods.

This is just me though, I know other players who don't do enough running, jumping, and crazyness to worry about their marker.

You know, I haven't been to any of the really large scenarios, like at Skirmish, EMR, etc. I have however played quite a few local scenarios, which take place on about 30 acres and on average have 300-500 people, sometimes more. Some rather high profile scenario teams have attended these events, such as Horrowshow, Blues C
