Padding Question
I'm going to be buying some pads for next season, and I'm not sure which brand to get. I know that DYE, Proto, and NXE all make good, quality gear, but they're kind of pricy. I don't want to pay a lot for crappy pads, so if you guys could give me some opinions on which company has really protective pads, that would be great. Keep in mind that comfort is a key as well. Thank you. Also, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong thread.

they're all about the same as far as I can tell. If you can, get a chance to try them on before you buy them. Here's a secret, get volleyabb knee pads instad of fancy paintball kneepads.

I've heard of people using Volleyball knee pads before, but always though that theyr were illegal to use in tournaments {too think of padding}. I'll look into buying a pair of them, and then just buying forearm pads designed specifically for paintball. I might get Proto forarm pads.

I'm sure that they work, but I'd never use them in a tournament, as the referees could say that you had a perfect bounce because of the thickness of them. I'm just going to get actual paintball forearm and knee pads. I'm either going to get the Empire Ground Pounder SE series, or the Eclipse Distortion series.

I'd buy the Dye/Proto arm pads that kick total ass. New pads I have found the one's Under Armour makes for volleyball which are very thin work great. There around $30 and they stay up a lot better than the paintball ones. But if you guys want to waste the money, hell it's your money not mine!

buy last years pads, but read up on them first. Sometimes they will drastically change something like the sizing or level of padding between years.
I paid like $35 for my ground pounder knee pads and it was worth it. Good gear is worth the price. But generally you can find stuff for around $40.

Yeah, definitely. Besides, I'm really skinny and don't want to break my arm off of a dive! I'm porbably going to get the Empire Ground Pounder SE.

Eclipse makes nifty thumb wholes in their forearm pads so when you slide you don't have them all up in your pit. I'd go with proto or Empire on the knee pads.

The company really doesn't matter much. What matters is the fit. Go to a store and try on whatever they have.

The nearest store to me that has paintball apparel is halfway through Pennsylvania, and I'm not going that far just to try on paintball pads. I think I'll just take my chances on ordering them.
I'm around 5'6"-5'9" and 120lbs. What size would be good for me? I'm going to take a guess and say small, right?

Yea, small or medium. I'd email the company and ask which size is best.

The Empire Ground Pounder SE seem to be the 2008 favorite so far. Thanks.
