New Gun

I am thinking about returning my Autococker I don't really like it. I have a Revolution Force Hopper and a Smart Parts Freak Barrel. I use co2 but i can get nitro if neccessary. Which gun out of these would be best if I get a new one?

Idian Creek Promaster

ehh, it depends on your style, even though you're as biased as I am. In my opinion, save up a little more and get the Epiphany. Stock, the extra price makes it MUCH more worth it. And, you can use your current freak parts with the freak it comes with.

Stock Promaster Pros/Cons
Pros
Faster
More Accurate (with single shots, see cons)

Cons
Heavy(er)
MUCH more kick, makes laning difficult if you're smaller
Can't use it in the rain (open-ish top (can't confirm how bad it is, just what i've heard from PM owners))
board is a pain the ass to access
no ASA stock

Stock Epiphany Pros/Cons
Pros
Light(er)
More accurate for burst firing or laning
More user-friendly, with more easily accessible features
THOUSANDS of upgrade parts, full compatibility with Ion parts, with the exception of older aftermarket boards (pressure rating too low, can be fixed with better hoses).
Quiet with the Freak barrel

Cons
Considered VERY ugly by some (I find them very cool, all opinions)
Stock board MUCH more constrictive
Less air-efficient
The 1/4 turn ASA is known to strip threads of weaker tanks (advise getting a new one or being VERY gentle)... it happened to me.
No B.O.B. design (Bolt Out Back)
Stock feedneck is so/so at best (keep O-rings in for VL loaders, take them out for Halo/Empire loaders, then it works fine).

So, if you ask me, the Epiphany is better for the money, and as a starter gun, but I'm just as biased as Martix is. Inevitably, it's your choice.

if you're going to be laning or firing short bursts of 3-5 shots, the Epiphany is much more accurate because you're not fighting against nearly as much "recoil"

lol go to the gym and work out, if the whole pound of force a paintball marker gives off hurts your accuracy that baddly.

True, it's nice to have a smooth shooting gun. I shoot a spool-value so I agree that their is a difference, but is it unbearable to shoot a spyder? I dont think so.

I'd definitely go with the promaster. I don't think the recoil is that bad and it's something you can easily get use to with some practice.

First post. Good info here. I just picked up my gun after a few year break. My last gun was an Automag, I was reading up on some posts to get the lowdown from the guys in the pits on the better guns. No better info than from real players. Im going to be doing more pick up games in hardwoods courses instead of tourney fields.

1. This thread is old as hell

2. Please don't thread-jack

3. If you can find an older ego for a good price, then go for it, bot really, if all you're doing is playing for fun, don't spend more than $500 tops on any gun, it just isn't worth it unless you really have extra income to burn

Get used cyborg or 04/05 ego. Also if you want to go newer check out used eteks, minis and PMRs (or even older PMs or DMs). All are good guns. Smart parts doesn't make the greatest guns and their ions and derivatives of ions have some serious problems (like accessing the internals or doing maintenance).
