Honestly, I doubt you need the apex. You'd be better off just buying a decent barrel kit.
The apex is a pretty nifty barrel but the only real purpose it serves is for being able to shoot with a flat trajectory. For example, if you're shooting through two windows, you just line it up and don't have to worry about the ball dropping a considerable amount. With the range it adds isn't very effective, seeing as it won't break past the normal range of a normal barrel.

It has Tippmann 98 threads there are a lot of barrels available. If you are thinking of an Apex Lapco makes a Bigshot that accepts the Apex tip so you get the benefit of the Apex with a top of the line one piece barrel.

Honestly I think you are putting way too much effort into a barrel for an entry level marker. Barrel kits and carbon fibre are very expensive and any one of them will cost nearly as much if not more than your entire marker and no matter which one you buy it isn't going to improve the performance enough to justify the cost. If money seriously isn't an issue I'd cut my losses now and buy a better marker altogether if you want to stick with your current one I wouldn't spend more than $50 on a barrel tops.

I have, and he is absolutely right. The ball will not break beyond a normal one but on RARE occasions.

He is using a Tippman Alpha black for woodsball, not speedball therefore it is not an entry level gun but the standard for woodsball so there is no need to upgrade. DW fibur if you have no budget, J&J ceramic/CP one piece/Proto one piece will all serve you well under 50 bucks.

not to argue it but i was a bit concerned after hearing this so i used my neighbors snap guage and a micrometer to measure all 8 of my inserts, 2 were dead on and the other 6 were within .001 of what they are marked as, so i think it was just rounding error at that point. im happy though
