So, hold on, even though it's working now, you still don't like it?
And the VS2 is a great little marker, it should do fine.

Ions are truly hit or miss. My friend Josh has had his since the day they came out and has never lubed it, yet he still pics it up and shoots it like it just came outta the box every day he plays. My cousin Bobby's was the same. Yet I see people with there's down all the time, most of which I suspect is use error. The ion's main downfall is the non-BOB capability stock, which they have changed nowadays.

Ions are definitely hit and miss....that's a great way to put it.
The XE is a much better design, and should stop most of the wear and tear on the internal hosing system. It doesn't mean the random failures, shoddy materials will go away, but ti will be better at any rate.

I know people whose freak inserts are off by more than one bore size. If anyone knows quality control its SP
My friend has an ion with a bunch of ups and its been taken care of very well. However it has started to become very unreliable. To the point where the solenoid got messed up (which I fixed) and the board fried.

Yeah the XE has just started to turn up around the field. Haven't really had a chance to deal with them yet.
I love the DW fibur, but would go to a null in a heartbeat if it came in a normal CF pattern. I usually find one .689 insert that's in spec, and go...

I have had no problems with my inserts, and they are around the 05 era style that were nothing but trouble. Idk maybe I got lucky?

I apparently got some recently, and my crazy physics teacher took electronic calipers to my FREAK inserts, and they're all spot on!
YAY!!!
Anyways, I would really like to say that most Ion problems are owner related, sorry to say
Immaculate care of any Ion will yield good performance from my experiance.

That is very true because most ion owners were noobs that didn't be careful when taking there **** apart and ****ed it up which made it look bad on the upper half of the paintball worlds eyes.

I agree azn. however, it does make them bad markers and here is why:
theyr'e obviously marketed towards new-ish players. Players who are inexperienced, young, and dont' know any better. why then, whould they make a marker that is so easy to break and market it towards these players? why would they make a marker that's easy to break in the first place?

What i don't get is that if they're of such poor quality and aimed at the entry-level player, why are they so expensive? I mean, there's lots of cheaper and apparently more reliable options for newbies out there.

Ions are going pretty cheap nowadays. The XE is only 40 more bucks as well.

I would say that 50% of the troubles I've dealt with from ions are owner error. HOWEVER, I cannot let the designers of the blame for this one, had the hosing system been thought about, or BOB released as stock sooner, those user errors wouldn't have occurred...

Very true, SP cut a couple curves with the Ion but it is definitely a platform that could be optimized and improved to be a competitive high end if they did something with it.

I do agree, the old Ion system is nothing compared to the new Ion XE.
Martix, you make a good point, but still, even with a little bit of care, the Ion wouldn't have nearly as many "problems" as it should.
Thanks to the BOB of the Ion XE, that's going to change though
