you dont' want a flatline. it's all hype and no product. We've got about 10 other threads that all say the same thing.
Pick up a J&J ceramics barrel and you'll be much happier (and spend less money too!)

Rifling works but not on paintballs.
J&J is among the best value for the money or anything made by Lapco.

I'm not sure that they're rifeled anymore though.
The field owner nearby me swears up and down by hammerhead barrels

Yep rifling and reverse porting are their main selling points.

I recommend a SP progressive barrel, I have been using one for a couple months and have found it to be a great barrel.

The HammerHead barrels are of amazing quality, and thats why they shoot straight, but the rifling does nothing.
Great barrels with a useless feature

I dunno, my hammerhead shoots just as good as my J&J Edge kit.. The Hammerhead has a worse paint-to-bore match and requires detent rings to prevent roll-outs but a very high quality barrel to use on a pump marker, I must say.
But then again my Flat-line shoots ropes as well.. I think players' don't dial in their markers well enough then look to place the blame on a part or product... Like Flatlines.

seriously? thats what came with my impulse, i hate the thing, the bore has to be around .70 so if you break any paint it just stays in there and messes up the trajectory of every ball after it, its one of the heaviest barrels iv delt with. seriously if you had the right tools i think someone could make a better barrel in their garage.
i replaced it with a J&J ceramic, easily the best deal on the market IMO. all these aluminum barrels people are suggesting will expand and contract with temperature changes, ceramic wont.

But sadly, the ceramic coating on the aluminum barrel will still change a little bit.
If the whole barel was solit teflon and ceramic, the thing would be way too brittle

All a barrel needs is a mirror smooth inside and a consistent sizing from end to end to work properly. The material they are made out of whether Titanium or Carbon fibre or the woven hair of virgins sacrificed under a full moon is more marketing than anything.
Progressive barrels are a step up from the stock barrels that come with most lower end markers but their quality is noticeably lacking when you hold them up beside something like a Lapco barrel.

Different materals change shape more than others though in heat and cold...but the paintballs are what change the most

I'm aware of the theory I'm just not convinced of how important it actually is in selecting a barrel since as you mentioned the paint is more likely to change than anything.

true but the more things that change, thats all the more variables that are thrown in, consistancy in co2 used to be a variable then HPA was intoduced and now it no longer is. the more things that you can keep consistant, the better off you will be

Way overpriced. Rifling doesn't work with paintballs. I'm sure the tolerances are excellent but you could get similar for cheaper.
As for flatlines and apex barrels. They are both useful and practical in woodsball. The added range isn't where it helps though, at those ranges its doubtful the ball would break. The come in handy when you want a flat trajectory (shooting through two windows or lots of branches). If thats what you were planning to use the flatline for then go ahead. If you want to snipe people you'll be very disappointed.
