well im trying to get rid of my impulse and replace it with something else, preferably im looking for something with cocker threads since thats the other two markers i have, must have eyes and not be a blowback. looking for something used in the $150 to probably $200 range
any suggestions of what i should look into?

laser eyes
CP flow plug

cp micro on/off asa
deadly winds 14" fibur barrel with full freak
Dye rotor with speed feed
centerflag 68/4500 with on/off
im not exact on what you mean by backup, as in if one breaks, or to bring it always for use in the field, etc.
but ive been seeing some intimidators (even with eyes) steep to 160ish around. check ebay or something.
BTW: some of them actually have the eyes in the package, but they arent installed.

LEGIT, IM SERIOUS (sgt.slaughter jacked this from joe):
if you see a timmy with eyes going for less than 250 please post a link, never heard of it. Just did a quick search and the starting bid for most used intimidators is $200.
hmm, i really dont know anything about DP products, anyone got a rundown for me? spool valve/poppet valve? advantages over other markers? iv never owned one never touched one so any info would be usefull
thanks for the link 2.0
was it the G3 everyone was saying to stay away from in favor of the F8?

truthfully i have. i ask my mom, whos always on ebay working to watch the bidding for me, and tell me when its going to end, but she never does. a texas storm intimidator w/ eyes on the side went for 164. will post link next time.
DPs are great. they come great, even the older ones, so not much is needed.

Yeah, apparently there was a run of really bad G3s at first. THe G3 SE seems to have worked out all the kinks of the first G3.
DP markers are good (except that batch of bad G3s), i have a generally a good opinion of them.
Good finds but those are pretty old intimidators and the last one is a systemx nme, a timmy clone.
The defiant is i think is way old, reminds me of the shoebox shocker :S. The 2k2 intimidator seems like a pretty good deal but i wouldn't be surprised to see it go for over $250. The NME i have no idea about, never seen nor shot one.
it would be nice to have a poppet since i have 2 spools as my main 2, would be nice to own a poppet, o and peaches, those marekrs will not go for the price thats on them, the most active bidding on ebay comes in the last hour or so. im a bit of a bid sniper so the last 5 seconds is when i try to bid. i wouldnt be supprised if they all ended around 200
and i just couldnt go for the pink one....just....no

the f7, does it use reflective eyes? differences in the f7 to the f8?

i didnt read or look at the postings at all. but i understand what you mean.
edit: oh and you can always get a 98c or something. heres one i found for kinda cheap at the moment. 10 bucks. 10 buck 98c package
or some older tippmanns like the pro series or 68s.
you can always find the ex-rentals that just have bad appearence.

I've only shot the F7, never had an F8 in my hands so i'd be a poor comparison point. The eyes are standard, dunno what the lingo for eyes is but it´s one IR emitter LED on one side and one IR receiver LED opposite to it.
From what i´m reading the F8 is a little lighter and smaller and has a better solenoid, but otherwise seems it's pretty much the same internally with a few improvements here and there.
F8 and F7 shoot darn close to identical. F7 can actually be tuned to shoot slightly nicer since it still had a LPR (the F8 did away with adjustable LPR and is now fixed). However, the trigger on the F8 is nicer, and the milling is much sexier. I kinda miss my F8. Never owned an F7, but shot a few.
NME isn't bad, but you'd be in the same bucket but worse as your DM6 if you needed parts, as they're even less common than DM parts. NME was actually improved on the Gen3 Timmy that it was based on in every fashion. When they were new, they quite honestly humiliated Timmies as far as performance goes. If you're willing to risk it, NME is one of the nicest shooting pre-gen5 Timmies ever.
You can find Quests around that price. Rare, but possible.
I'd probably go with the Fusion myself if I couldn't find a Quest.

how about actually reading even the first post next time before dropping a responce in, if you had read the first sentance you would know a tippmann of any sorts is not at all close to what im looking for

those would be break beam eyes, better than reflective eyes but not quite as good as laser eyes, thanks for the info

sofar the f7 seems to be winning, miller does that mean from f7 to f8 they went balanced poppet to unbalanced poppet? id go balanced if that was the case. ya i guess i should have qualified that parts should be easy to come by in my original post. its a backup not a main. i was throwing the idea of a XE around but just cant quite let myself own a ion....unless someone can convince me, the other issue with it is its not cocker threaded
how easy is it to find parts for the f7?

Laser eyes are no better then traditional breakbeam eyes.
You can pick up 05 egos for around your price point. I know you are looking at poppits but don't want the older timmies. Honestly timmy resale is really screwy and a gen3 that has good parts on it won't go below $200.

^^ for the laser eyes, gennerally there is no difference in preformance between them and IR eyes but the difference comes in the staging area when your diagnosing a marker issue, if you have laser eyes its a simple look down the feedneck to see if they are working correctly, IR eyes need a little more figuring to make sure they are working correctly.

Fusion parts, due to their relative rarity, are actually pretty hard to find. F8 a bit easier since they're JUST recently discontinued. The aftermarket for the F7 is all but non-existent other than Ruthless paintball has triggers. DP probably still carries them though.
And laser eyes will only tell you that they're powered...not that they're working. I've had 2 markers with laser eyes that the eyes weren't working but the light on the transmitter eye was still working.
oh, and they make autococker threaded Ion breaches for like $30. I found that out like 2 months after I got rid of my XE.
but yeah i did read the first post, but the tippmann was like 10 bucks at the time. just putting it out there.

true about the laser eyes, but with the laser you at least know power is getting that far, and in most cases means the board is working correctly. plus it just looks cool. but whatever, i consider them an upgrade but like a DM bolt, are gennerally not needed unless something else breaks.
as for the f7, well i am having second thoughts about it if parts are going to be hard to find, a XE with cocker threads is very appealing however. ill keep that in mind, on another note, are minis cocker threaded? i am seeing one every once in a while with a 200 price tag, and as long as i can get a v2 this may be the way to go
