Carbon fibre coming apart?

I just got a carbon fibre 68/45k hpa tank and my friend said if i dont get a cover for it i could run into problems like the carbon fibre coming apart or something like that. My other friend said i could wrap it in tape or something but they wont re-hydro test it. Do i NEED a tank cover?

What....?
No no, if you take a look at your tank its nice and smooth, there's already a protective layer for it. Unless your rubbing it like crazy against a rough surface your not going to have problems. I don't use a tank cover and have yet to get a noticeable scratch on it.
