98 custom problems

Hey guys. After a couple years of not playing, I've decided to get back into paintball. I brought out my old 98 custom marker, about 4 years old. I attempted to unscrew the casing so i could open it and clean it before i play this weekend. My problem is, as soon as i tried to unscrew one screw, it stripped. Then another one did. And another, until all but 3 screws were stripped. I used the correct tool sizes, but they all stripped anyway. My question to you guys comes in two parts. First, why did this happen? Because of the old age/disuse of my gun? Low quality screws/tools? And second, how can I get those screws out? Can I do it myself, or do I have to visit my airsmith to get them removed (I think the second one is probably the route i will have to end up taking, seeing that the screws are recessed in 98 customs and I can't think of any good way to get them out without power tools.)

Thanks for reading my wall of text, please help.

It was just the allen heads, the rest of the gun is fine.

mostlikley you used a metric size on a standard allen scre or the other way around.

to get them out, try superglue. glue a stick or something onto it and see if that works once it dries.

can dremel slots in them and screwdriver them out.

there are also drill bits that allow you to drill out stuck screws.

I didn't think of that! That's a great idea. I'll probably wait till after this weekend when I can get replacement parts though.

thanks!

Use the right size allen key!!!!

You're going to have to drill a hole in them and put counter threads in the hole to get them out.
