you're worrying about the cost of 12g cartridges but not worried about the price of FS rounds?

Luckily I get a great prices on FS rounds with our sponsorships - I'm going to use the hell out of the Hammer 7 lol Titus is a great supplier of 12g Lelands - he orders by the pallet so he gets great pricing on them. Here are go:

My local field doesn't do First Strikes at this point in time, so I don't have a FS marker in my little collection. If it were to allow them, I'd probably splash-anodize a T9 (without any of the extra rails and such) to use on occasion. The other junk on the market is generally too milsimmy and low quality for my liking. The DAM will be fine, I'm sure, but I don't care for the aesthetics - or need that much firepower for First Strikes - and I'm still waiting to see how the Hammer 7 pans out before rendering any decision on that one. Yes, it's hard to screw up a Nelson, but I infinitely prefer older ones with Freakable barrels to the recent Trracer re-release.

You can freak a Spyder threaded barrel if needed. Lou was saying they will most likely produce a cocker breech you can swap out...problem solved!

my Trracer reference was simply an example of favoring an old Nelson pump over the newest, rail-covered, plasticky thing. I'll have to see/feel/shoot a Hammer7 before coming to any final conclusions on whether or not I'd buy one.

Watch the videos of the Hammer 7 and you can see it still has the ability to shoot fairly fast if needed from the hopper. It has a auto trigger so you can hold the trigger down and shoot as fast you can pump.
I am getting a Hammer 7 at some point because the way I look at it I am not going to use first strike rounds in speedball anyway so a pump will be fine in those games anyway.

but you cant produce just a breach like you can for the ion, for a spyder its either the whole body or an adapter that adds around 3-4" to your barrel length and kind of defeats the purpose of a barrel kit since it will have to be bored around a .7 just to make sure you have space for the largest of paints
i dont see the purpose in freaking an already spyder threaded barrel as finding someone to bore it correctly is most likely going to end up costing more than a spyder threaded freak kit will

Incorrect. Entire breech is removable on the Hammer 7, Lou stated they were going to produce a cocker threaded breech in the future.

And what's wrong with Freaking a Spyder barrel? $15 or 20 to bore out something you already have is way cheaper than a new back and tip.

True on the freaking. I'd rather pay for the service and have the option than a bunch of barrel backs to switch out.

if its a freak anyway the backs are all of what, $30 or so? not to mention being spyder threads if you ever get anything else you will need another back anyway.
you are the only person i have found that says its going to be a removable breach, i can not find anything else anywhere saying that. it does make sense being a dual feed there would need to be some way of selecting one or the other but likewise dye is doing that with the eye pipe on the DAM and the breach itself and barrel do not move

Straight from the source, Lou has been a great Rep to deal with, I'm hoping he can make it up when we host a Mag Fed Challenge - with Hammer's being the primary marker being used. I've had plenty of one piece barrels freaked, I'll be getting a few Spyder threaded barrels done now until the cocker breech is available - this will be the first Spyder I've owned since a Hammer 2, so lack of barrels is my main problem right now lol

SP Tips are univeral. My SP branded tip purchased in 2k3 fits on my Freak branded back purchased a few months ago.
then again - this is only valuable if the user already has the freak inserts + tips.

Just as I expected, my internet conection dies for a few days and the thread becomes derailed .
@huckduck Of course I'm worrying about the FS price, but having to buy yet more stuff every time I use them that is also expensive is not a good deal to me.
I think I may decide for the Hammer 7 in the end, I tested it again and I found away to comfortably have two markers in the field at the same time and switching easily between them.
